Guest guest
My daughter's CRP was high when they ran a test 2 weeks ago. Jolene- Did your psoriasis attack your nails? That is where my daughter's started nearly a year ago. She has been exhibiting symptoms throughout the past few months but they really came to a head 2 weeks ago when the joints in her fingers were painful and hot to the touch. As soon as I googled " psoriatic arthritis " , the first picture that popped up looked just like her hand. I am in a holding pattern right now until we have this other bloodwork run.... She is better. What I did to help her was buy pencil grips and fatter pencils and pens. *~ Kami ~* Re: [ ] Inflammatory arthritis with chronic urticaria I have psoriatic took them almost a year to diagnos it. No blood worked showed until about six months after i had the flare of which was the start of it. My crp test was high. have they done this? have you lost weight? I lost 30 pounds after about three months of the first show of the psoriasis, couldn't eat, couldn't walk etc. Jolene In a message dated 9/30/2008 9:49:17 P.M. I have had inflammatory (not rheumatoid, I tested negative for the rheumatoid factor) arthritis and chronic urticaria for almost two years now. I also tested negative for ANA, ruling out a lot of other things like lupus, etc. My x-rays show erosive changes in my hands so my doctor has me on methotrexate now. I'm on a dose of 12.5 mg of mtx and 200 mg daily of plaquenil (for six months now) and am seeing NO results for either the swelling/joint pain or the hives. I'm sort of at a loss. Here are my questions. Do a lot of people not see any results from these meds? Also, how atypical is it that my doctors haven't specifically categorized my arthritis yet? Shouldn't I at least have a diagnosis? Also, I just ordered The New Arthritis Breakthrough about antibiotic treatments. Is anyone on this board doing this with any success? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jen **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges? Guest guest
I have psoriatic arthritis and or ra its a hard diagnosis, i woke up one day with the sores but as my doctor says its hard to make a difference between the two, although they are both different they are treated mostly the same............ I am seronegative blood but present with joint pain in back, neck, wrists, hands and feet. Sometimes knees. I have been on Plaquenil for 4 months. I think it may be helping, but hard to tell because I found out I was pregnant a month ago. Plaquenil is safe for pregnancy. The RA doctor has been leaning towards a diagnosis of RA, however, I have developed nail problems. I blamed the Plaq. but she assured me it does not do this. I went to dermatologist who tested for fungus infection which came back negative and she said most likely its psoriasis of the nails. I went to my RA doctor and let her look at my nails and she concurred with dermatologist that it is. She said it can be associated with joint pain and swelling. When I looked it up on internet, looks like I may have psoriatic arthritis. What does anyone know about this disease? Or, can I have RA still and psoriasis of the nails? Any input is welcomed.
