Group, thanks for the support!  I did it! It burns and stings but it wasn't as

bad as I thought it would be!  I am so proud I did it!  You have to understand,

I hate needles and since my diagnosis I have been inundated with needles!  Now

the waiting game begins - I hope it works!  Thanks for all the kind words, it

really helps!

When you go to do your next shot, leave the shot out for 30 mins and then try,

it shouldn't burn as much as it does if it is warmed up.

Hi -

 

The shot this morning was warmed up about 40 minutes before I gave it to

myslef.  I think I am just being a big baby - everyone says it gets easier and I

believe them!  How long have you been on Enbrel?  How soon did you feel the

effects of the shots? My doctor is keeping me on Prednisone for another month

before weaning me off the drug. I won't really feel if the shots are working for

another month.

Try icing the site first for 5-10 mins, that makes a big difference. I also

find my tummy is the most comfy site to inject.

I still use the 25mg twice-weekly version, and it doesn't sting at all.

This message just reminded me that I mixed today's a couple of hours

ago and hadn't injected it yet, LOL.

Hi Clora and Group!

 

Yes, I had my first shot.  My rheumy still has me on Prednisone for another

month (4 weeks) while I take my first 4 shots. He told me I probably won't feel

anything until I was off the Prednisone. So, we will all have to wait to see how

it works. I respond well to Prednisone so I am keeping my inflammations down

while Enbrel starts working on my body. 

 

I am also only two weeks away from completing the 12 week treadmill walking

program from the Arthritis Foundation,  I have seen many changes in my body.  I

am not losing any weight thanks to Prednisone but at least I am not gaining

more! If anyone wants to know more about the program, please let me know.  I

found it online on their website. I talked to my doctor about it and said it

couldn't hurt to try it!  I have more energy in the mornings and have less

pain. Once I am able to get off the Prednisone I am hoping I can lose the 10lbs

I gained from the steroid.  Has anyone experienced weight gain from Enbrel?
