Guest guest
Hi, Plaquenil was my first medication, and I'm still on it along with 8 mtx every thursday. I have never had any trouble with plaquenil. If you are having stomach troubles have you tried maybe having a few crackers with it to help? sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but give it a shot. The mtx will help but it will take about 4 to 6 weeks to work, and i also recommend eating something with it as well, especially if you think you might have some stomach sensitivity. hope this was helpful! heidi in mass. This put me in a very terrible situation for 3 weeks. My Ra took me off Plaquenile for a while until my stomach issues had gotten better. I went Monday and she told me to start again on 200ml. My stomach issues returned yesterday. Has anyone has stomach issued with plaquenile. She told me the next step was MTX. Guest guest
Hi! I started on Plaquenil 5 weeks ago. The very next day I started to spend more time in the bathroom than I would like to. Nausea, diarhea and headache. Two days later I could barely get out of bed. Every joint in my body ached. And I do mean EVERY right down to the joints in my little toe! That lasted for a couple of days but then just my affected joints hurt everything else was fine. I still don't have much of an appetite. In fact I lost 5lbs. I think I will market it as the new " Plaquenil Diet " ! LOL Anyways it does pass. Hang in there. wendy --- In , " kmitch1966 " <kmitch1966@...> wrote: > > Question to all of you wonderful people. Guest guest
KMitch and our wonderful Group I been taking plaquenile and methotrexiate, (please excuse the aweful spelling,) for about 6 months, A lot of people say they help. I didn't look up what they did or what the side affects was because I knew it would scare the hell out of me. They haven't done anything for me, to me or against me. I am taking them now to please my rheumy. Yes, I told her they do not help over and over lol. She finally gave me some prednisone. It is working wonderfully. I have been sick for about 10 years with other illnesses. When I looked up the side affects I was in horror. haaaaaaaa. However; Thank God there was no problems. I did have problems with other RA meds at first. Just itching, so she changed them to what I am on now. Try not to worry, As we all problably heard, worring don't occomplish anything. Just listen to your doctor and follow all your medication rules carefully. I forgot I couldnt take antibiotic with my chemo pills. What a mess I got into for that. All is well that ends well. I listen closer now. My husband goes with me to every appointment, so he can listen too. Gently hugs to everyone Clora
Guest guest
If the Plaquenil is helping then I'd ask the doctor for an anti-nausea drug which helps immensely (usually suppository). If you don't notice any appreciable difference with the Plaquenil then you should tell your doctor to try something else. Methotrexate is a love/hate drug - I don't think you'll find anyone who doesn't hate it or love it. Just make sure they check your liver function tests while on Methotrexate. I had a problem with mouth ulcers on Methotrexate and because I didn't have any kind of improvement in the RA or flare/pain I told the doctor I wasn't taking it any longer. Unfortunately you've just gotta keep trying to find the right " cocktail " that works. Cheryl
Guest guest
I had the same thing happen, after 3 weeks my body just right out rejected the Planquenil, lots of lower IG issues. But my rheummy didn't ask met to try it again, he agreed that there was nothing else causing it. That's when we went to MTX and it has been great for me, the only side effect I really have had was at first I slept a LOT starting the late afternoon the day after I took it. That lasted to late morning the next day, then I was fine. I don't even do that anymore. As scary as MTX can be, if you try it, just be aware and report any issues. Remember that it is a milder immune suppresant than the biologics. I am glad there are biologics in case I ever need them, but they scare me *way* more than MTX. More possible side effets that are stronger. MTX has me almost symptome free and there are days I do not even think about having RA. Due to a dental infection, this last dose of MTX I had to skip and my hands are just starting up a bit late into the week, so I am actually looking forward to taking it again this sat night! Root canal started, ICK!, MTX in the body, it will be a pain free week next week and that will be wonderful LOL!! --- In , " kmitch1966 " <kmitch1966@...> wrote: > > Question to all of you wonderful people. Guest guest
and my wonderful support Group I had to respond to this. Bless your heart. Hon I know how you feel. Me too. My toes ached too. I don't know if it was the plaquenile cause I been taking it a very long time. I dont want to lose weight from throwing up but if it would make me not hungry that would be a good side effect for me. I got my husband to rub me down with bengay even my toes, lol, I wanted to do my fingers but he said I might get it in my eyes. I get up in the morning and run to check my email from our group. After I have my coffee anyway. Correction walk. That was 5 hours ago. I spend off and on all day to hear from you guys. I know I dont write to a lot of you. But every one has been helpful to me with their encourgement, listening to me complain, listen to you guys complain, knowing I am not alone, knowing this pain is not from my evil ways, or its not from my weight, and my group cares. No, I haven't been on here for a straight 5 hours. but when I get time I come to read what else is going on. I dont finish all the email till bedtime. Cause more keep coming in. I have to finsh before I go to bed. I love to write as everyone can see. If I could read straight through and not respond I could be done in a couple of hours, but its such a joy to read and respond. And yes, I can't take a bath. I sit on a plastic milk crate, with a towel on it for comfort. Awe the hot water running down my back feels so good. I use to take a baths everyday sometiimes twice a day. I am so weak and in so much pain I take a bath every few days.I did the same thing, the other lady did. I got stuck in the tub and couldnt get out. I was to weak and hurt so bad. I thought it was my weight that did it to me. People had me convinced I was this way cause I am obese. TY everyone for clearing that up. At least for me. I know I must lose weight for my heart. And for RA. And to be a hottie again. lol I am very sorry your meds put you through that. At least we know now that everyone responds good or not so good. You tickle me sweety when you said even your toes hurt, cause so did mine. I had no reactions to the plaquenil. I am still taking it. I don't know why cause it hasnt help at all. I told my rheumy too and she wants me to take it a little longer. gentle hugs Clora > > > > Question to all of you wonderful people. Guest guest
I had stomach issues with it too. I was taken off of it because of a major neuromuscular reaction. However I had tummy issues with it too. > > Question to all of you wonderful people.
