Guest guest
Hello Leonie and , Sorry if I missed that post. I am not born organised! Fortunately and as ever has come up with the info. I will try and post again about it soon if I get the chance. Generally the message is that whatever amount of methotrexate is absorbed (complete with injection of course) variable with oral will be metabolised by the liver and yes, may affect the liver adversely in certain patients (one of the reasons for monitoring regularly with lab work) As to advantage of injections over tablets, well this is a tricky area. My understanding of research and trials is that for some tablets are fine but for a significant group injections are better tolerated .Absorption of tabs therefore dose can vary, especially in people with IBS say. Here in the UK there are great tactical NHS obstacles to giving MTX by injection outside the inpatient setting, and my friend has been told they can't be given her, although she has awful gut problems. It varies from region to region. I really find this hard to understand. I know you are in Australia, so it would be different there. Best wishes Chris UK From: mumpup2000 <leoniecent@...> Subject: [ ] in the UK Date: Tuesday, 7 October, 2008, 1:28 AM Hi I noticed in an earlier post that monique asked you about methotrexate injections and whether they affect the liver like the pills do. She has problems with her liver detox pathways and can't take meds without getting sick. Do you happen to know the answer to this ? Also, i have an ulcer so would mtx be best in injection for me ? I don't want to upset my stomach. I'm not sure why my rheumy didn't suggest injections. all the best, Leonie
Guest guest
That's ok Chris. I know how easy it is to miss posts... i do it all the time. I reckon you'd be pretty good to see them all. Thanks for the info on mtx. If i'm going to ask for mtx injections, i need to have a good case for it, so you can see why i'm asking. thanks again, Leonie > > From: mumpup2000 <leoniecent@...> > Subject: [ ] in the UK > > Date: Tuesday, 7 October, 2008, 1:28 AM > > > > > > > Hi > I noticed in an earlier post that monique asked you about methotrexate > injections and whether they affect the liver like the pills do.
