Guest guest
Tricia, I have used Nioxin in the past when I had hair thinning from quick weight loss with a gastric bypass as well as recently when I started MTX. Yes, it DOES work. I used system 1 conditioner... I know the shampoo I used was for chemically processsed hair... (shhhh! Only my hairdresser was supposed to know!) Do you have an ULTA nearby? They frequently run specials in store with a shampoo and conditioner for under $30. *~ Kami ~* [ ] Nioxin Hi everyone, I am wondering if any women on here have used Nioxin for hair loss caused only by the Methotrexate. I was going to get some, but it is expensive, so I wanted to see if it worked for anyone else before I got it. Thanks, Tricia .
Guest guest
Hi Tricia - as a former hairstylist (yup, RA took that away, too), I've learned that while this OTC stuff for hair loss can produce new growth (if the hair follicle isn't dead), once you quit using it, the hair could fall out again - meaning that you'd have to keep up using it if you didn't want to lose your hair again. I get gobs of hair in the shower since taking MTX, but so far I've not noticed any bald spots and it is so flipping hot that I don't miss it anyway. Hope this helps....Doreen --- In , Tricia Suncin <pfeifferdcat@...> wrote: > > Hi everyone, > I am wondering if any women on here have used Nioxin for hair loss caused only by the Methotrexate. Guest guest
Hi Ladies.... Arava will also cause hair loss. I am taking that and my hair is baby fien anyway. You should see it now...ugh....so thin. I'm going to look into the Nioxin conditioner. I have tried vitatress but without any good results. Thanks for the info. Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for the infomation on hair loss. I will see If we get that here in Australia, for I have written posts before about how much hair I have lost!!! I had extremely thick hair to start with, but now I have only half of what i started with!! So that is a bit scary. If I had thin hair to start with I don't think I would have any hair left!! My Rhematologist tried to tell me it from the predisolone but I thought it was from the methotrexiate!!! so many of these medications they put us on have side affects !! ! Somtimes I feel like I am one big experiment !!! Oh to be pain free would be wonderful!!! Maybe one day they will get it right for me and everyone out there who are suffering. Take care > Tricia, > > I have used Nioxin in the past when I had hair thinning from quick weight loss with a gastric bypass as well as recently when I started MTX. Yes, it DOES work. Guest guest
Thanks Doreen & Kami for replying about the Nioxin. I don't have any bald spots, but I do notice that I have less hair, much like after I had my kids & my hair fell out. But at least then it grew back. Thanks also for the tip about Ulta. There is one near my work. I have also seen Nioxin at Costco, but it was still $20 just for the shampoo. , My Dr told me it was the Methotrexate, but I don't take anything else for RA. Guest guest
Hi Tricia! They weren't sure why my hair was falling out. I have PCOS syndrome and other issues on top of the inflammatory arthritis and FMS. I also have anxiety which can cause hair to fall out. I showed Lupus symptoms which can also do it. I know Nioxin worked for me and I was losing hair constantly brushfuls for years and it's not happening anymore. The owner of the day spa who does my hair has clients with cancer that used it to help them grow their hair back. Their on shops on Ebay that sell it cheaper than the salon. Also, I have seen it at Target in their shampoo aisles, Meijers which is a grocery store here, and in Walmart and Rite Aids as well From: Tricia Suncin <pfeifferdcat@...> Subject: [ ] Nioxin Date: Monday, August 4, 2008, 11:43 AM Hi everyone, I am wondering if any women on here have used Nioxin for hair loss caused only by the Methotrexate.
