Hi Jackie,

I just got diagnosed myself on Wednesday. We JUST discussed the gluten

free/dairy free diet and how it works like a miracle for some, but for

others it does not. I tried it for nearly a year and it did nothing for me.

My sister-in-law swears by it. It certainly doesn't hurt you to try.

in TN.

diagnosed yet, but it sounds like RA. I have an

appt with a rheumy on Tuesday. Has anyone been helped by giving up

dairy, eg milk and cheese?

thanks,

Hi Jacky,

There is growing recognition that certain foods increase

inflammation. Numerous studies suggest that both the prevalence and

severity of RA may be lower in regions where people consume more fish,

olive oil, fruits, and vegetables.

I have changed my diet, not sure if it has helped yet, but I know its

better for me. I have been eating a lot of yellow and orange fruits

and vegetables, they are really good too.

I use to love chocolate, but its VERY bad for RA, so are tomatoes,

which I LOVE. There is always new ideas to help us, and so were all

learning together.

Good luck at the doctor, hope you do NOT have RA, Tawny

Hi Jacky,

I just visited this site and told the story of my friend who is pain

free because she gave up dairy.

The title of the post is " A Story To Tell. " If you can't find it on

the website please let me know and I'll find it and send it to you.

I find the story very encouraging for anyone who wants to try. I have

to tell you that giving up dairy was one of the hardest things my

friend did. Her life now is pain free.

Dairy is what comes from the cow, not eggs or mayo. In fact my friend

uses mayo in her mashed potatoes instead of milk.

when i eat tomatoes, potatoes, or corn i feel awful the next day. i was seeing a

naturalpathic for awhile and was trying to control my ra with diet. it was very

hard. i actually got so frustrated and i was in so much pain that i decided that

if it was food related i would just quit eating. i did for 6 days. i was pretty

much pain free and all swelling was gone but as soon as i started eating it all

came back.

I did try giving up dairy.  What made the most difference to me was giving up

wheat and sugar.  Very difficult to stick to though.

Hello,

I have had RA for 15 years and have tried everything from sitting in

a bubble thing with steam to injections etc..

I also have just about every book on getting better you could find

and the one thing that rings true is controlling your diet.

The one that makes the most sense to me is the gluten free, lactose

free. Its a bit hard but once you get it, its not hard and I can

feel a difference!

Look it up online and it all makes so much sense. Good luck, i am

impressed that you could quit eating for so long, I have thought of

that but could never do.

I'm glad the diet works for you. That sort of diet didn't work for me, although

I tried it for over a year.
