Guest guest
Hi , A friend of mine recently was diagnosed with Sjogrens and was put on Restasis? to help with it. She has RA but currently has no meds since she's allergic to most things. Sad but true. I am having eye troubles also and will see a new rheumy on Thursday. I take Plaquenil as one of my meds, which is known to cause eye problems. On Monday, I'll make an appt. with an eye Dr. to be pro-active as I'm sure he'll have me do that. It's really frustrating at this point. I cannot wait to get to this appointment! Good luck, have you tried some eye drops? Heidi in Mass. In a message dated 8/8/2008 9:33:24 P.M. Guest guest
Hi , I also have RA and my husband has AS, we were told by our Rhuematologist that is the cause of it. And to use natural tears eye drops for it. GodBless, Mel > > RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY EYES BEING DRY AND BURNING > FEELING, IT IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND ANNOYING. Guest guest
I have , I guess you can say, 'Full Blown' Sjogrens. It dries my eyes, cuts off not only tear production, but also all sinuses, saliva, throat moisture, etc. I've even had Trident chewing gum stick to my tongue like it was made of paper. I finally got it off, and it has happened a few timess. I use saline nasal moisturizer even in my eyes. The bottle sprays a mist in my eyes rather than drops that miss the eyes more often than not and also to moisturize the nose as well. With the bottle upright it will spray a mist, on it's side will produce drops, and upside down will give a continuous stream. It may not work for you, but it does for me. 'Proper' medication is too expensive for me, so this is my option, along with lots of water, and my throat dries and makes a raspy sound when I try to talk. It's not pleasureable at all. Guest guest
Hello , I have really bad dry eye, which started with the RA. I have to use Restasis eye drops, which took a little while to become effective. My eye doctor said it was not uncommon to see this is people with autoimmune diseases. The Restasis doesn't completely solve my problems, but it does help it to become bearable. Guest guest
I developed " Plaquenil toxicity " and was taken off it after my eye problems developed. I would never take it again although it was controlling my RA quite well for a couple of years. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of sposy@... Guest guest
Dennis Texas and group; I can't even begin to imagine what Sjogrens feels like. I have an idea about the dry mouth, I take diuretics for congestive heart failure and the dry mouth drives me crazy. To have gum stick to your mouth is unbelievable but I know your going through this. My heart goes out to you sweetyheart. Is there some relief through medication?? Or do you constantly wet your mouth with fluids. I looked up Sjogrens disease, all the infections you can get with Sjogrens is so scary, due to the lack of dryness in your sinius, mouth, eyes and etc... . Ok I see medication helps. I am so so very sorry life has dealt you this aweful deal. I am praying especially for all sufferers in God's creation. My special prayer for you is to be healed. I am makin a box of names to pray over. God bless you Dennis from Texas. Gently hugging everyone Clora
