Guest guest
Dalanne, I am relieved to hear that hubby's heart issue has been diagnosed and treatment isn't far away! :-) Please continue to keep us updated! You drive a DUMP TRUCK? How cool is that! After reading all you have been doing during the day thanks to Orencia, I WANT SOME! (I think I am on my way to remission with Humira but it seems to only last 7-10 days with me) I have a lower pain amount but my energy level stinks!!!! How long have you been on Orencia? If it is short term, perhaps you might need a couple more infusions so that you have enough in your body to last 4 weeks? I hope you get some answers this week! *~ Kami ~* [ ] Orencia working 3 instead or 4 weeks? & OT I'll hit my short Off Topic quickly- My husband's heart issue has been diagnosed. He has Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. I am going to make his appt to see a cardiologist Monday. We are excited to know it's name and that it can be treated. That is a HUGE steaming load of stress off my heart. (No pun intended there) Now for the real topic: Orencia has been working very well for me to the point where I could drive my dump truck all day, come home to fix supper and start doing housework afterwards. But, and it is a big But, I can physically tell a week before I'm due for the next infusion. For a full week before I'm due it's like I am having a flare with all the bells & whistles. You know...redness, worse pain, stiffness, no energy, etc. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this happen to them? Not that I'm complaining...I'm just curious. I get my infusion on Wednesday and am going to tell them about this 'week long lag time'. .
Guest guest
Hi, My name is Don. I have had RA for about 6 years and have not had any success with any meds untill I used Orencia. I was pain free, went back to teaching (sub) kept house and enjoyed life with my three young sons and wife. However the cost was covered by a drug program and then by my insurance once that ended, but the copay was 450.00 (which I could not afford) and I have had to stop taking orencia. Now I am back to being exhausted, hurting and depressed. Guest guest
Don, Please call your insurance and see if it could be covered under major medical. Also, Orencia.com has a financial tab that might give you more information. I hope you get something to help you really soon. Guest guest
Thank you for your help! This disease is unfair. The fatigue is unbearable. I can take enough pain medicine to ease the pain but then I'm useless for anything else. I am sorry for ranting, but it has been a rough day. Guest guest
Don, Ranting is allowed and most people here find it very useful at times. I hope today is a better day for you and I totally understand where you are coming from. Shirley > > Thank you for your help! This disease is unfair. The fatigue is unbearable. Guest guest
I have been on Orencia, including the initial 3 that i got every 2 weeks, for 3.5 months. My infusion tomorrow will be month #4.5 . Don, my insurance is fighting me on the orencia also. BlueCross is refusing to pay for my infusions by saying that it is a cancer treatment that needs to be pre-approved and that i did not get that treatment cleared. My RA office is trying to help me. B.C. has been good coverage for us until this. My Dr also helped me get enrolled in Commence, a program thru Orencias maker to help but if my insur wins and doesn't have to pay then all the Commence program will pay is $500 per treatment. Each treatment is being billed at $3200 plus the lab fees. Oh, Kami...I not only drive a dump truck but I am a farm wife and ran both of our semis back and forth to the elevator on Friday. We are in the midst of soybean harvest. Wedn. after my infusion i have to return to the farm to drive the grain cart until our 11 yr son gets home- he loves running the grain cart. We are driving a huge 4 wheel drive tractor with a CD player so it's a cushy thing!
