Guest guest
a and group; a thank you so much for sending this post... I didn't think it was suppose to be so painful getting a scopy done... I almost wept when I read your post... Thanks for your sweet precious concern... My colon wasn't kinked because I saw the whole thing... Now I will tell my primary doctor what happened so it don't happen again... I will have him set me up for another one as long as it don't hurt as bad.. The one they put down my throat I was wide awake and could feel everything... When I gag the doctor was mean and said here here don't do that.... I swore I would never have it done again... I was told they found something and should come back.. I figure I would rather die than go through that again.. But I will have a long talk with my primary doctor and tell him everything that happened Maybe a sigmoidscopy is needed for me... a I was hoping someone would tell me this... I have been through the mill with getting test but this colonscopy was the worst of all... This is what makes our group so great we can share our expierences and others can console us and let us know better ways... God bless and take care. I will make an appointment with my primary doctor tomorrow ( it's after 5 now) get my flue shot and set up a sigmoidscopy or what he decides with a new doc for the test... gentle hugs Clora ************************************************ > Clora...so sorry that you went thru that. Guest guest
a is so right. There are good GI docs and bad GI docs and when you're on that table it's easy to tell the difference. Having Crohn's I've had more than my share of probes being stuck in orifices. I've even had endoscopies (down the throat) done in the same session as the colonscopy. I felt like a pig on a skewer at a 4th of July picnic. Believe me, it's no fun. One time I had the courage to have the endoscopy done on my company lunch hour with no sedation. I got off the table and went back to work. Looking back on that now, it was just plain stupid. It doesn't need to hurt and it shouldn't hurt. If it does, let the doc know and for the next time, find another GI doc. Bob > > Clora...so sorry that you went thru that. First of all, make sure you get > another gastro to do the surgery. Guest guest
Bob, I'm with you. We have enough pain to deal with on a daily basis. I am going to avoid any and all that I can. Guest guest
) Mimi - Sometimes all we have is laughter. It's hard to hurt when your laughing. Actually I laughed too at the memory of it. I thought the picnic line was rather creative while a bit self deprecating. The lunchtime endoscopy was the first one my gastroenterologist had ever done and probably the last. I suspect he's probably still telling people about the guy who came in, took off his shirt and tie, had the scoping done and was out the door in less than a hour. I had it done once before in the hospital under emergency conditions without sedation but that wasn't my choice. I was in the process of nearly bleeding out and they didn't want to wait for any sedation to kick in. Probably more stupid having it done again, considering I pretty much knew what to expect.
