Guest guest
Hi Felicia, I also had good results with peripheral neuropathy by using b vitamin supplements. Some of it I feel is related to circulation problems from joint inflamation, and I still get some of that in a flare, or if I am stuck at the desk working too long. But it has improved remarkably. I have used at different times brewer's yeast and a sublingual b-vitamin preparation high in b12. And I also highly recommend to keep those joints moving, by whatever method works best for you. The moves illustrated on your site are very much like the kind of stretching I do. Even someone very debilitated could do them, and not jar the joints. Liz G. Guest guest
Joanne: I haven't posted anything in a long time, but I try to keep up with what's going on with the group. You sound like you're dealing with what I was a few years ago. I had really bad burning and tingling but was tested for neuropathy and told I didn't have it (because I didn't have nerve damage, presumably). My symptoms were similar to people who've been exposed to mold. Mold was growing in my implants, like a lot of women in this group have experienced. Dr. Kolb in Atlanta told me it was biotoxins causing these symptoms. I agree with Patty that it's not a good idea to take Neurotin, Elavil, etc. I was on Neurontin and Ultram and I think Elavil all at the same time when I saw a naturpoath--he was horrified and told me to get off them. I quit them all at once and got really sick, so be careful if you're taking any drugs like these. If you still have your implants, make sure you go to a surgeon who will remove them properly; I had to have a second surgery, even though the first surgeon removed the capsules. My health is much better now, but I still get mild burning in my feet if I overexert myself and still have a slight pain under my left rib. I get still get B-12 shots as I'm deficient, so you might want to get tested for that. I hope your visit with the naturopath went well. My experience was they're good if you want to get tests done that your doctor won't do, but be careful. One I saw cost me over $700 a month (one monthly phone consultation plus supplements). I personally found the advice from this group to be much more helpful. Ihad another horrific night and have been researching neuropathy andfound actual names for what I have. It is also called parasthesia. Itfeels so good to know that I am not crazy or have silicone stuck in mybody. There are conventional treatments like Elevil and Neurontin andI am not opposed to that if it gives me some relief but I want a cure,of course and I may need IV or IM injections of vitamins. I am seeingthe naturopath this afternoon. I can use some prayers today. I havebeen living with this thing for 4 years, always thinking that it wouldgo away in time. Guest guest
Dear , Thanks so much for your note. I feel so bad today. The B 12 shots felt good at first and then they seemed to make things worse. I finally went to my own doctor who, of course gave me Elevil. I slept for 2 days and never went out. I felt dizzy and sick but it got rid of the burning. I couldn't sleep last night so i took the Elevil and this time it only gave me the side effects but no sleep. (My B 12 levels were way above normal) I think what is wrong is the strict candida diet that I am on. It is so detoxifying even though I have added some grains back in. I need to find another diet for candida that is not so detoxifying. I loved the diet at first because of the weight loss but after 5 months I am sick and tired of eggs and meat. I wrote in to the moderater of that group also today asking for help. I am glad that your burning symptoms went away. Did you do a diet to get rid of the mold? My implants have been out for 5 years but I have only seriously fought the candida issue for 5 months. I really want to give up. I question God's existance on these bad days. Thanks again, Joanne
Guest guest
Joanne, I agree with you that I think the strict candida diet may be causing you some trouble. It really is a diet that promotes inflammation for those who are fighting autoimmunity. If there are any autoimmune tendencies, the best diet is an anti-inflammatory diet, rich in fish, vegetables, and plant foods over animal foods. We all need fats to keep us healthy, but there are fats that promote inflammation and then there are fats that calm down inflammation. You want those that calm down inflammation. Chronic inflammation in a body is never a good thing. Joanne, I can identify with the feeling of wanting to give up. I've been there. I may not have experienced the same symptoms as you, and so I don't want to sound glib...sometimes these symptoms we fight can wear us down and we just truly are defeated. It's hard to believe in the goodness of God when you have cried out over and over again for relief, or answers, or comfort and it's just not there. I have yelled at God at the top of my lungs when I was so sick...I just wanted my brain fog to go away, my fatigue to go away, to feel better, and not so poisoned. Yes, I screamed at Him and pounded the floor and sobbed and sobbed...I was so mad, so tired, so DONE with fighting the illness. But God's Word is always our source of hope and so if you will allow me the freedom to share one more thing....I want to draw your attention to the Baptist. His story shed so much light on my situation.....and I hope it will shed light on yours too. There is a book called " The Prisoner in the Third Cell " , and it is a book about suffering by Gene . It is a dramatic story about how the Baptist was imprisoned by Herod, and awaiting death, and how he struggled to understand a Lord who did not live up to his expectations. After all, the Baptist was called wasn't he? As we are told in Luke, the angel of God told Zechariah that would be " great in the sight of the Lord. ....He will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous--to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. " the Baptist was " the voice of one calling; In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. " (Isaiah 40:3) And yet what was the reward of the Baptist on this earth for his efforts on behalf of the Savior? He sat in a prison cell. Awaiting death. Do you think he wondered to himself, " God, where are you? Why aren't you saving me from this misery? " In fact, we are told in Luke 7:20 of the very doubt the Baptist had....when he sent men to Jesus to ask " Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else? " 's doubt crept in....wouldn't Jesus surely save him if He was the Messiah? Would he not get out of prison and free him to walk beside him in ministry? Of course, we know the answer to that question. No, he was not released from prison. He died at the hands of Herod. It was all part of God's plan. It didn't have the ending that hoped for, but it was ALL still part of God's plan, and only when we see Jesus face to face will we understand the mysteries of that divine plan. But I rest assured that the Baptist served His God faithfully and will receive his reward in heaven. I hope that helps you see your situation in a different light Joanne. Suffering is never pleasant, and we don't know what the end result will be, but our only comfort is in standing firm on the truths that we know God has promised to us...HE WILL REDEEM US. That is a promise and a truth that He will never forsake. Stand firm on that truth Joanne! Our hope in God is not dependent upon our feelings about God. It is dependent upon our trust in God. Is He faithful? Yes, He is. God is good. All the time. That is our comfort. Hugs, Patty > > Dear , > > Thanks so much for your note. I feel so bad today. Guest guest
Joanne: Regarding your question about diet, I started off with an anti-candida type diet but after a while found grains and dairy just too hard to give up. I'd lost a lot of weight and that was also a concern as my goal was to gain weight. So I tried to just eat healthy: organic when possible, no processed foods or sugar, alcohol, etc., which is good to do anyway, whether you're sick or not. I don't think the B-12 shots are that big of a deal--I get one once a month and am not sure I really need it any more. Your symptoms are being caused by more than a B-12 deficiency anyway. It's just going to take time to heal, so be patient.
