I started Plaquenil a few weeks ago. I have a very sensitive stomach

(wasn't able to tolarate most NSAIDS) so she started me on only

200mg & then wanted me to up to 400mg after a week of doing ok on

the 200mg. At the same time I was taking Naprolen (the only NSAID I

have been able to tolerate) I had been taking the Naprolen for about

6 weeks with no problems except that it only took the edge off the

pain, not enough really.

After 2 days of being on the Plaquenil, I started getting a really

bad sore throat - then a few days after that, sores in my mouth. But

no stomach problems. My Dr pulled me off everything. She said that

sounded more like a reaction to the Naprolen, wh/ didn't sound right

to me since I had been on it for so long already. Then she put me on

a Medrol pack & everything cleared up. She wanted me to try the

Plaquenil again without the Naprolen.

After a few days - sore throat was back - but not as bad. More like

a scratchy throat, so I kept taking it. Last night, I bumped up the

dose to 400mg. Within hours, my tongue was covered in sores & was

swollen & I had a rash on my face/neck & chest - along with the sore

throat. I have a call into the Dr. I'm so frustrated right now.

I'm Sero-neg, so my dr was trying to treat me with the most mild of

the drugs. I think we are going to try Sulfasalizine next. Anybody

have any experience with this drug? I hate this!!!!!
