Guest guest
Hi : You say there is a list of drugs that are not properly metabolized when someone is deficient in this enzyme? Do you know where I could find such a list? Thanks, -- Dodge Truly blessed to serve in E.M.S! Read my blog at: http://jumpthis.wordpress.com ---- keptoz <keptoz@...> wrote: ============= I had a very similar reaction to Plaquenil just a couple of weeks ago. After taking it for a few days, my tongue swelled up, I had sores in my mouth & on my tongue & a rash just as you described from my mouth, down my neck to my chest. My Dr. pulled me off the Plaquenil & gave me a Medrol pack (steroids) to clear it all up. At the moment I am only taking NSAIDs b/c she wants to give my body a break & at my next appointment she wants to test me for G6PD deficiency. This is a missing enzyme in your blood that will prevent your body from metabolizing certain drugs properly - Plaquenil is one of the drugs on the list. If I am all clear for that, I think she is going to try Sulfazaline next. I don't know which is worse - the RA or the wacky side effects from the drugs *hugs*
Guest guest
Dodge - Once my Dr mentioned it to me, I went home & googled it (as I do for everything these days) I found a pretty good list of drugs on Wikpedia's site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucose-6-phosphate_dehydrogenase_deficiency There is a lot of information out there about what it is & wh/ drugs can cause problems. I really doubt I have it, but I'm glad my dr is testing me - it will rule it out if nothing else & then I can start some sort of treatment again for the RA. > > Hi : > > You say there is a list of drugs that are not properly metabolized when someone is deficient in this enzyme?
