Hey Kate, I don't think I ever congratulated you on becoming a grandma! I hope the shower was nice. For my first baby, the shower was planned early too. I was due on xmas day so we planned the shower for Oct. 8, to avoid the holiday season. Guess where I was anyway? You guessed it! In the hospital having the baby. So I missed my own baby shower. My sil taped it and the nurses hooked up a VCR so I could watch it.

hello everyone!

I have had the flu all weekend. yuk. boy, i know i am sick when i do not want to eat!! loli went to a baby shower today for my very first grandchild.....due in february. because we get so darn much snow here, they decided to have the shower early.the food table was awesome!! lucky for me, my tummy said no food today!! i nibbled but sure did not eat much of anything!that is good, but not for the right reason, if you know what i mean!aerobics class tomorrow nite....i am the only member that has never missed a class, and i will go if i have to drag me fat ass in there!!i plan to go, do what i can....i made a commitment to myself not to miss....and i will NOT!!i seem to be stalling at another long, long plateau...i have been messing around long enough..i want to break the "00" by christmas!!anyways, it is a cold nite here. fireplace is making me very sleepy. hopefully a good nites sleep will knock this sicky feeling out of me! take care guys.....work it tomorrow!! exercise! eat healthy! and drink that stinkin' water!!hugskatie

Chrsity my sister in laws baby shower was planned a month before she was due. And we were teasing her that she could just go and have the baby and we would open all the gifts for her. Well she made it for her shower, but at 6am the very next morning we got a phone call from my brother that Carol's water broke. And my niece was born 2 hours later. (I just don't feel that is right that she should have her first child in 2 hours of labor . 's labor was 31 hours for me)

was a 29 hour baby for me too. My mom kept trying to say, "crying and screaming won't help." Hey she only had one baby, and her water broke in the grocery store an hour before my brother was born. What does she know? You're right. There ought to be a law!

you have no idea how lucky you are to be able to have home births.

I wouldnt even think of it. My sons cord was wrapped around his

neck. Then because he was so large (10lbs 2oz) he was stuck. By

the time they yanked him out and broke his collarbone he wasnt

breathing. I cant imagine not being in the hospital for L & D.

Needless to say 2 1/2 years later he is going through he

umm....terrific twos!!!!

Yeah long labors are so hard to go through. Now was 12 hours but I had a midwife and it was great. Of course it hurt, but with the midwife and having the baby at home, I had more control over what happened. I loved it. I didn't have any pain medicine with any of the boys. And I had them all either at home or in a birthing center. But none of them were short. was 6 hours and then was 12 hours. And with I had to walk the full 12 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was terrible.

  • 6 years later...

Hi Barbara - I can't imagine New England winters anymore with the way

my bones feel with just a FL T-storm. I used to live in Vermont and

while I miss the fall foliage, snow and the cooler weather, I know I

couldn't ever live up there again. I live in Central Florida now - on

the east coast Orange City. This past weekend we went to Madeira Beach

on the west coast - I can't get over how much more humid it is over

there than here. I'm looking forward to the cooler/dryer air we are

supposed to have this week - lows in 60's, highs upper 70's/low 80's.

This is my favorite time of year - not too hot/not too cold. The heat

and humidity bother me just as much as the cold does.

You're probably home by now since I am a couple of days behind on the

digests. Praying that you had an uneventful flight and are settling

back in again......Doreen :)
