Guest guest
Hi Dennis, It's a good idea to google what a vitamin d " overdose " feels like, although what you describe, doesn't sound like it at all. I know it's always a concern, which is why the Drs. like to always check the levels, particularly calcium, so they don't just want people to go and pick a dose (not saying you did) but D has become popular lately, and many are doing so. I know that for me with the high dose I'm taking right now, I take some collace with it. I also take MTX on Thurs, and do the D on Friday....my stomach isn't hurting from that. My ulcer has been acting up separate from all, and I'm having a gastroscopy tomorrow. fun fun...NOT!!!! Heidi in Mass. In a message dated 10/13/2008 5:39:28 P.M. Anyhow, it was suggested I start taking a supplement, so like a good little boy I went out and got a bottle of 1000mg tabs. I started taking them and slowly started to affect me. It was so slow and low-level I didn't know it was hurting me. During the second week of taking them, I started to feel some general pain in my guts. I started hurting, throwing up (5 times one night) and then it would slowly go away. It happened the same way the next week, making me hurt in all my stomach and intestines. During that week, I saw the doctor and it wasn't presenting enough to make a decision. All other functions were normal so it wasn't necessarily a virus. I stopped taking them last week and the trouble went away. This Saturday night I took my MTX shot as usual, and took a vitamin D on Sunday morning. That afternoon the pain started again so I immediately stopped them again. I'm thinking it's caused by the MTX and vitamin D combination. Have any of you had something similar? Guest guest
How awful Dennis! I take mtx, and my vit d is low. My doc prescribed me vitamin d, 1.25mg softgel tabs. I take one pill a week, the four pills cost me $10.99, no problems. I take the mtx a few days after the vit d pill. Keep us posted, and if it continues contact the doctor again. Sorry, this is happening to you, Tawny > > A couple of months ago, my blood test indicated that my vitamin D was low. > This must have been the 'flavor of the month'. Guest guest
Hi Dennis: Sorry to read about your tummy problem. Nasty business. We just never know what will work in our bodies. Glad you stopped the vit.D, and I hope you feel better soon. I guess a call to your dr. is in order to see what you can do about your low vit. D levels now. Wishing you pain free days. God Bless you. Guest guest
I appreciate the replies. I don't understand why the low level of vit D, I'm always in the sunlight, wearing a hat, BTW. I had hurt my scalp from some sunlight and haven't got rid of that either. Sun is good but sun is bad! Guest guest
, I haven't the slightest idea. It's 'Spring Valley High-Potency' 1,000 IU. It's just a supplement from WalMart. Guest guest
if it's D2 it's synthetic. D3 is what you should be taking. you could also try a different brand. you migth be reacting to a filler in the suplmt. i use liquid drops. also do you always take D with mtx? if so how do you know D and ot mtx is the problems? monique , I haven't the slightest idea.
