Guest guest
Hi All, Hope today finds you feeling well and happy as can be I believe the time has come for me to file for disability. There are multiple reasons, which I'm not going to bore you with. However, I'm still collecting unemployment and will be going for my extension mid November. I am going to attempt a part-time job on Wednesday, but I have to pass the employee testing, which may be an issue. We'll see how it goes, but I have to try this. In any case, does anyone know if getting the application in can effect unemployment? I'm thinking no, because I'm still seeking employment. I had a job, but it was taken away before I started. I have the proof of that. It's been wonderful here in Mass, but I'm sure it's the same all over. Have to keep the sense of humor!!! I know I can cold call and ask a question and perhaps I'll do that next week, but I wanted to see what you all had to say. Thanks in advance for you help! Heidi in Mass. GO RED SOX!!! GO PATS!!!! Guest guest
Since I was laid off in 1992, I drew unemployment and applied for SSD at the same time. My brain still worked, so I was looking for a management job. The unemployment people knew that but since the SSD folks didn't know, that procedure had no effect on either one for me. I drew unemployment for over 18 months, close enough to the SSD approval date, I was lucky enough to be approved for SSD just as I was running out of money from my retirement, bank accounts, liquidating some assets, etc.. When I only had the $20 bill in my pocket we were both anxious and didn't know what to do, the check for all the time after the lay-off was paid to me. I think that today more computers are linked, so it works against you if you're drawing any documented income. I think that's how it will work even though you aren't making enough to disallow drawing SSD. I hope it won't affect your application. Guest guest
Heidi, The hardest thing about filing for disability is making the first call/appointment. Get the ball rolling! If you are awarded SSDI you can still earn a certain amount of $$ and not have it interfere with your SSDI. *~ Kami ~* [ ] Question regarding applying for Disability while on unemployment Hi All, Hope today finds you feeling well and happy as can be I believe the time has come for me to file for disability.
