Guest guest
Thanks Debbie...I do have really soft stools first thing in the morning. But my meds can cause that. No bleeding, no stomach pain. I remember always being under with my last 2 colonoscopies. This time I was awake..feeling no pain and watching the screen. Hmmm...miralax.....is that all you took? How do you take it...how much? Hugs..a ************** New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Dining, Movies, Events, News & amp; more. Guest guest
Hi a: I have the colonoscopy done every 2 years due to past Ulcerative Colitits. I have never had a polyp and they always do biopsies. They have always been fine. I am sure you will make out fine. Good luck with your dr. appt. and results. Guest guest
Debbie...no, didn't take anything for pain....I had a little ouchie during the procedure but that was it. It was pretty easy except the now the worry and wait period. UGH..just reading what you took made me tatse it all over again. Wish they'd make a good prep. I always start mine earlier too. Thanks for your help. a ************** New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Dining, Movies, Events, News & amp; more. Guest guest
Hi a, When I had my 5 year colonoscopy in Aug, I did have polyps removed but no inflammation. My Gastro didn't give me an specific treatment afterward. Didn't you get the conscious sedation like I did? When I am under that I can't ever watch the screen during my test. I used the Miralax prep the day before and it was ok. Try not to worry about your follow-up appointment. If your bowel habits are normal you should be ok. Guest guest
You're welcome a. Did you take anything before your test so you wouldn't have pain? Couldn't remeber the details so got out my packet for my colonoscopy. I was supposed to start the prep at 1pm but started mine an hour earlier. First had to take 4 Dulcolax at noon, nasty Magnsium Citrate at 1pm, then started the Miralax about 4pm. Had to buy a 238g bottle of the Miralax and Gatorade to mix it in. Alternated mine with Gatorade and water. Also took 2 Dulcolax the night before then 2 the prep day. hugs, Debbie L > > > > Hmmm...miralax.....is that all you took? Guest guest
Thanks Tawny..will do. Always somethin'. I think if we all got our heads together and invented a good colon prep...we would be living on the beach, in a mansion someplace tropical. Wish I had the money to do that. You'd think some company could find the way to make a good less intense prep. Hugs...a Always a blast to have a colonoscopy:( I hope you can find some info from some members, before your next appointment. I don't know a whole lot, I know Crohn's is common along with RA. Guest guest
a, I've had IBS for years, and I've had enough of the colonoscopies. I will never forget the first one:( My specialist was an older man, and was very nice, so I felt very comfortable with him. Well, I was ready to get started, here come my doctor with two assistants, both very blond, tall, and very sexy, (guys everyone.) They could have walked off the runway, they were like perfect. I like totally freaked out. I woke up startled to find I was in the recovery room with all men. You know, I took my gown off, and dressed right there. I was totally messed up, or something. I'm sure someone got a show, lol Can you imagine waking up, and there's a naked lady, lol Hope you get a laugh, and your day goes a little better. I know you are worried right now, Tawny > > Thanks Tawny..will do. Always somethin'. Guest guest
Betty's going for her very first one next week. I hope hers goes more smoothly than mine. I don't know why they can't release the air that's pumped into you. That's what really got to me the first time, sitting in the car on the way home. Guest guest
LOL!!! Tawny, Having crohn's and all the times I've been scoped, I can assure you, this has never happened to me. Might be a good enough reason to pass on the sedation again though. Hmm... Guest guest
a - thanks for the giggle " They can put a man on the moon but can't make a good bowel prep " Ain't that the truth!! I had a colonoscopy before and definitely thought the prep was worse than the procedure! Seems I heard or read somewhere that there have been reported issues of kidney failure with the Fleet prep - don't know which one of the Fleets, though. I did my prep with the little bottle of Fleet that was added to a drink or something like that and my kidneys are fine........Doreen > > Barbara... > UGH...every 2 yrs...lol You think they'll make a better prep by > then? Guest guest
Hi Dennis - Best of luck with Betty's colonoscopy. I know what you mean about all that air that is pumped into you. I couldn't let mine go and then I remembered my great-grandmother couldn't just pass gas either and they suggested she go in the bathroom. So, that's what I did. It took a few minutes of sitting there, but once I relaxed it sounded like an air hose had been opened up - Wooossshhh!!! haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Doreen > > Betty's going for her very first one next week. Guest guest
Doreen, I tried that and a few other 'tricks'. None of it helped and I never passed the air in any direction. I don't know what happened to it but it did disappear. Dennis in eastexas On Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 8:45 PM, Mimi <mimi212@...> wrote: > Hi Dennis - Best of luck with Betty's colonoscopy. Guest guest
Hi Dennis - The one thing I kept in mind was what my great-grandmother did after she had surgery and was full of gas. Because she was a very modest woman, she would just go into the bathroom when she felt uncomfortable. So, when I had a laparoscopy and was full of air, that's what I did. I was definitely more comfortable in there than in the bed and it sounded like someone let a dang air hose loose! But, man did I feel better. My prayers are with Betty next week........Doreen > > Betty's going for her very first one next week. I hope hers goes > more smoothly than mine. Guest guest
Dennis, your body probably absorbed the gas/air, but it must have been miserable for you in the meantime...........Doreen > > Doreen, I tried that and a few other 'tricks'. Guest guest
Really the only time it was uncomfortable was sitting straight up in the car going home. I had Betty stop so I could lie in the back. It'll be interesting when I get her through it and find out how bad it is for her. Guest guest
Dennis, The air they pump in can also escape the body through a joint. I have had three laproscopic surgeries, omce it escaped through my hip, another my shoulder and the last one I don't know because I didn't have any soreness associated with a joint that time. I hope things go well for Betty. Shirley > > Really the only time it was uncomfortable was sitting straight up in the car > going home. I had Betty stop so I could lie in the back. Guest guest
Doreen, Thanks for the laugh. When it came out my hip, it felt like I had been kicked by a mule! I could hardly walk it was so bad. I kept wondering, what was he doing there????????I called the doctor's ofc. and they told me what had happened.
