Guest guest
That is very interesting! I too have had one H _ _ _ of an up bringing. Wouldn't wish it on anyone else. But the last 11 years have been very good to me. There is no RA in my family that anyone know's of. They don't even know what it is. That is worth some research! Michigan ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------------------- Hi I was interested in hearing who had RA that has been inherited from other family members or I was curious to see if there is any relation to stress!!!! I am asking this as a girlfriend's mother developed RA in her fourties and she thinks it is related to her having a very stressful upbringing. I too have had a life full of enormous stress from a young girl and I am curious if in some way this has attributed to my RA/FM !!! I also have a daughter who has a rare blood disorder (which is also an autoimmune illness) But no one in our family has had RA and I am the youngest of six siblings. I wondered if this is just a myth about stress or there is a connection. I do know when I am under stress now with my RA it flares up something shocking !! I would love to know everyones imput !! take care . **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. Guest guest
hI, My RA does not run in my family. I am the first with it and I got it in my early to mid thirties. YES, it flares horribly when I am under stress. I had an extremely stressful childhood suffering migraines and other physical side effects from having alcoholic parents. It was very very difficult for me. I am curious if stress did play a role. I also wonder if my recurrent bouts of strep throat that were not treated promptly may have had something to do with it as I did not have my tonsils and adenoids out until I was 15 finally. My parents obviously did not put my healthcare at the top of their worry list since they were busy drinking. You get the picture. Guest guest
RA does run in my family on my mother's side. I'm one of 6 kids, 3 of each, and the only one with RA. For me, it showed up just after a seriously stressful time at work and no time to see a doctor for the flu I fought during the Christmas vacation because of the seminar I was organizing. I finally got over the flu in early Feb, 1990, and the RA hit my whole body in early March. So, here's genetic predisposition and stress, and I'm male on top of all that. It seems to me that it's a crap-shoot! Dennis in eastexas On Sun, Aug 10, 2008 at 7:12 PM, Tracie Bragdon <tracierae143@...>wrote: > hI, > > My RA does not run in my family. I like you Tracie had an alchoholic mother, I was the youngest of six siblings and my parents got divorced when I was 6mths old. I also had a lot of problems with my thoart and tonsils, although I never got them out. I came down with Epstien Bar virus just after the death of my mother to bowel cancer and my baby daughter had been seriously ill with a rare autoimmune disorder. I went on to contract ME/CFS(chronic fatique syndrome)My health problems excelerated after that and I got Fibro Myalgia and then RA. I had been under an anormous lot of stress, going through a divorce and having a very ill child. So I think in my case My health was not good to start with and I had the stess on top of it. It was fascinating reading everyone's stories. Sorry if it had been a topic not long ago, but I am only fairly new to the group and appreciated everyones answers.
