Guest guest
Hi all. I need to ask for any opinions/experience anyone might have. My husband's knee swelled up and started hurting 5 weeks ago while he was out of town working. When he returned home I took him to my Ortho specialist who drained 5 ounces of fluid from his knee and ordered blood tests and an mri. They tested the fluid and blood for infection, RA (which I have) and gout. All were negative and the mri showed nothing. The doc just prescribed a Medrol dosepak and acted like we were wasting his time once he saw that all tests were negative. What would make his knee swell so bad and accumulate so much fluid? He's been out of work for 2 weeks because he can't walk on it and now the doctor says " it's nothing " . Where do we go from here? Thanks
Guest guest
Dmily, Usually fluid on the knee is caused from osteo-arthritis, or a ligament injury. Is there any chance that he could have over extended or done something to hurt the ligament? I am sure there could be other causes, but these are the only ones that I am aware of. My mother had servere osteo and had her knees drained several times. If it continues to be a problem try getting better direction from your primary care doctor, if you haven't already. I hope he is much better soon. Shirley --- In , " eandsspivey " <emilyspivey@...> wrote: > > Hi all. Guest guest
Hi - as silly as this sounds, my Dad used to get water on the knee occasionally and it turns out that all he needed was a chiropractic adjustment and it would go away. I think they drained it once with similar tests that your hubby had. Hope this helps.....Doreen > > Hi all. I need to ask for any opinions/experience anyone might > have.
