Guest guest
Hi.. Just bought an LG front loader washer in Bahama Blue!!! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. It's helped me in many ways. Easy to open...the clothes come out almost dry so they are lighter, my electric bill is cheaper, and I swear if my dryer could talk, it would say a big THANK YOU, because it is working on a shorter cycle. I got it from Home Depot. I'm thrilled. You do need to use laundry detergent with the little HE for high efficiency on it, you use less, so it all comes out in the wash...LOL....but it's the best! They are a bit more pricey, but worth every penny. LG got great reviews and a friend has one that I've used so I was familiar, but look it up on the Home Depot website. Again...it's made a big difference to me hand wise, arm wise, money wise. Go Kami Go!!!! Heidi in Mass. In a message dated 10/15/2008 7:30:49 P.M. Guest guest
I didn't get the pedestal...i have it on a pallet in the basement so it all works out. The price of the pedestals is insane. I wanted red but that price is crazy too, and on the LG is mostly with the steam function. You don't need it as there is a Sanitary selection. Heidi in Mass. That's why we didn't buy them. I was trying to figure out something cheaper to mount them on to raise them a bit. I'm sure I can figure something out. This is the first time though in our 38 1/2 year marriage that our washer and dryer match. Woohoo! Guest guest
Kami, I don't have one, but if I could afford it, I would. Really, I am thankful for the machines the good Lord has supplied. I still want one. Red. Shirley > > Looking for new and was thinking about going for the front loading washer this time...... Guest guest
i love the front load washer. it uses a lot less water and saves wear and tear on clothes. i bought a speed queen and if i had to do it over again i would not have. it weighs about 300 pounds and was very pricey. but ive had it for two years and have no problems except for a bobby pin getting caught in the trap. i was able to take care of it myself. i would never go back to the top loader. Guest guest
Kami, In the last 6 months, both our washer and dryer went bad. I think it was a conspiracy, but that might be the meds. We purchased the front loading Whirlpool Duet matching pair. It does require more bending which isn't good for me. We are considering though getting the pedestals but of course that's more money and you have to have room. The washer does use less water being high efficiency. By the way, if you look at Maytag, they are now made by Whirlpool as well. And, yes, I do my own laundry. My wife does hers and my live in disabled son does his. We're an equal opportunity laundry family. Bob > > Looking for new and was thinking about going for the front loading washer this time...... Guest guest
Kami, I love my front load washer. They use less water and are very gentle on clothes because there is no agitator in the middle. If you do go for one though I would recommend getting one that has a pedestal. Ours are both on the floor and I find the bending down for both the washer and dryer really bothers me. Happy shopping, > > Looking for new and was thinking about going for the front loading washer this time...... Guest guest
You're right about the price. The washer dryer pair cost more than my first new car. A 1970 Austin America. Hope they last longer. I totaled the Austin in December of the same year. Rear-ended by a drunk driver going 40. I was stopped in bumper to bumper traffic. One of the contributors to my lower back problems. Bob > > > > And, yes, I do my own laundry. My wife does hers and my live in > > disabled son does his. Guest guest
We're also an equal opportunity laundry family. When each kid got a certain age, I turned over their laundry to them. Then I did the same thing with my husband. He didn't take it well, LOL. I've see lots of really expensive appliances advertised lately. I wonder who can afford them, since they seem really outrageously priced. Sue On Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at 07:42 PM, fullwave2 wrote: > > And, yes, I do my own laundry. Guest guest
Heidi, You and I already discussed how jealous I am over that washer. I am sitting here turning green. Thanks. Really I'm happy for you. Shirley > > Hi.. > > Just bought an LG front loader washer in Bahama Blue!!! LOVE IT LOVE IT > LOVE IT LOVE IT. It's helped me in many ways. Guest guest
Hi Darcy, Because they use less water, wash faster, and HE detergent leaves less residue, and it goes a long way as you use less. Most brands are making one for HE washers now. Heidi in Mass. In a message dated 10/16/2008 7:10:34 A.M. My problem is most every laundry detergent makes me itch, so I have to use Cheerfree. Darcy **************New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Guest guest
Im not sure that new detergent that says you need to use less works at least not for me, but then again i have a houseful of kids and was every day. They are saying that its not so true. Jolene In a message dated 10/16/2008 7:10:39 A.M. After reading this, I did a google search and to my shock, they actually have cheer free in HE version. Now, we just need to have our current washer break which won't be for a long time as it's still fairly new. Darcy
Guest guest
You do not NEED to use the HE detergent. I use regular all the time and just cut back on the amount a little. My daughter does not cut the amount back when she does her laundry and it's just fine. I believe the HE detergent is just " watered down " and you do not want to use a ton of regular because they use so little water you do not want the soap staying in the clothes. I hate my front loader with a passion. We've had it for 3 years now and I wish I had bought a regular one. It just kills my knees and back to do laundry now and I hate it. I use a natural laundry deterent called Ecos that works extreamly well and you use only about 2 tablespoons of detergent and it also has natural fabric softeners in it. I save so much money using that stuff. Not to mention I don't get sick from perfumes. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, > > Why do you have to use special laundry detergent for it? Guest guest
Hi Kami - some of my relatives have these and love them. I would recommend buying the pedestals that go with them as they are just too low to the floor without. When its time for me to buy new, I will be getting the Whirlpool front loaders. I've always had good luck with their products and their tubs (last I checked) were the biggest out of them all. Hope this helps.........Doreen > > Looking for new and was thinking about going for the front loading > washer this time......
