Guest guest
After reading about the ER fiasco, I recalled one I lived through with my Dad 8 ½ years ago. Make a long story short…..my 88 year old Dad fell down a flight of stairs to the basement and actually broke through the sheetrock wall. He crawled up the stairs & called me at work. I came home and took him to the closest ER. They did x-rays and a CT (although they claimed later they didn’t) and sent him home. They advised me to give him Tylenol for any pain. A week later, he was in an ICU (at another hospital) in a halo. He had broken his neck by that fall. He lived about 2 ½ months and made it through 8 hours of surgery. He died of pneumonia in the rehab facility.
Guest guest
Dorothy, I'm sorry, that is so tragic. I know that every case can't be perfect, but sometimes there is such needless suffering. I worry so much about senior citizens and the way things are just not followed as thoroughly they should be. Guest guest
Thanks, Shirley. I also feel for all the elderly people who are ill and have no one to speak for them. I also worry about myself since I have no children to do for me what I did for my Dad those last few months. It’s very sad. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of nana2livi Sent: Tuesday, August 12, 2008 9:49 PM Subject: [ ] Re: ER Nightmares Dorothy, I'm sorry, that is so tragic. Guest guest
Dorothy, Oh Hon, that really is upsetting to me. I will pray that if you ever need anyone, either God will be your advocate or He will put someone in that place to guide others in what is best for you. I know that He has been there for me, so many times and I am sure there are even more that I am not aware of. Bless you Sweetie, Shirley > > > > After reading about the ER fiasco, I recalled one I lived through > with my > > Dad 8 ½ years ago. > > > > > > > > Make a long story short…..my 88 year old Dad fell down a flight of > stairs to > > the basement and actually broke through the sheetrock wall. Guest guest
That's very sweet, Shirley. I'm hoping that if I have to end up in a nursing home sick and alone, that I get Alzheimer's so I don't know who I am or where I am...LOL I don't mean to joke about that since I know what a serious illness it is, but I think if we don't joke now and then, we may as well be dead and buried :-) _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of nana2livi Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2008 6:44 PM Subject: [ ] Re: ER Nightmares Dorothy, Oh Hon, that really is upsetting to me.
