Guest guest
Hi Everyone, My daughter, who is 31 yrs old, has many autoimmune problems as I do. I was wondering if any of you have experienced the following: Say you walked on all fours, feet and hands, in the snow for a while and your hands and feet are feeling frozen numb. Then you go inside and put them into cool/warm water to warn them up and they start this burning tingling feeling that is very painful...but they never warm up and just continue to feel this way for days and days and gets worse. The sensations of freezing cold, tingling, burning become a single sensations with pain. When touched the pain is get even greater. Can't sleep from pain. After a couple of weeks this goes away and doesn't return for months. Anyone heard of anything like this? We are searching for answers and she is waiting for her doc to call back. Thanks, Stella
Guest guest
Stella and Group; Stella the last time I felt that was in jr high school. I was so cold I went straight to the girls bathroom and stuck my hands under warm water. I knew you could'nt do this with frozen hands. When the water first hit my hands how good it felt. All of a sudden I was in so much pain I couldnt hold my body up, I just dropped to the tiles on the floor whithing in absolute pain. Haaaaaaaaaa. I can laugh now. I get numbness in my hands. But it's not painful. I think its the RA, because my rheumy keeps asking me if My hands or feet get numb or tingly. I told her the last time. She said ok. That was it. So I am guessing my case is the RA. I can't stand the numbness. It worries me. I will ask the rhuemy next time what it's from. Guest guest
Stella, I am so sorry your daughter goes through that. I have never heard of anything like it, but then there are lots of things that I have not heard of. I must be very painful and terrifying! I hope someone here can help. Please, let us know what you find out and how she is doing. Guest guest
I have been having some of those same issues but not as traumatic. The " catch phrase " is Peripheral Neuropathy and I've been told that's my problem according to my Rheumy. I'll see what my GP says next month when I visit him. It seems to be biological that penicillin may cure it, I dunno'. Guest guest
Stella, I have times in the mornings when I wake up and my legs fron mid calf down are burning like crazy, I try to move them, separate them ( I sleep with my legs bent and I am on my side ) My hands get numb but they don't usually burn. I have type 2 diabetes and so the Dr feels its Neuropathy. I also know people who have neuropathy that do not have Diabetes. She should thell her Dr what is going on but up to this point I haven't found anything that helps. Thank God it doesn't happen daily. It goes away when I get up and am on my feet for awhile. Hope she finds the answer. I will keep her in my prayers. Guest guest
Hi Sue, That was the other Heidi. I am Heidi M. Actually I was just diagnosed with Diabetes 2 in 2003. I so far have controlled it pretty well with a diet and if I lost a lot of weight I might be able to control it completely.I hope it goes away. I hate it. The other Heidi I think is Heidi and she puts the state. ( I am so foggy tonight I am doing well to remember my name. Hope you have a good one Heidi M On Sat, Aug 9, 2008 at 8:49 PM, Sue <marysue@...> wrote: > Heidi, I see that you do have diabetes. When you mentioned having a > 10-lb baby, I wondered if you did. Guest guest
Heidi, I see that you do have diabetes. When you mentioned having a 10-lb baby, I wondered if you did. My third child was 9 lb 7 oz, but I was not diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I'm sure I must have had it, and I did go on to develop the disease. When I was diagnosed, I had neuropathy in my toes, but with a few years of controlling my diabetes, the neuropathy went away. Guest guest
I didn't realize that we had two people named Heidi. I like my diabetes much better than I do my RA, LOL. But, fortunately, both are under control. Unfortunately, diabetes does not go away. It would be nice if it would. I take metformin and Prandin to help me control mine, along with diet. It's nice that you can control yours with just diet. Keep up the good work. Have a painfree week.
