My X-ray results

The nurse called me last week to tell me the results of the X-ray of my

lumbar spine. Actually, she didn't understand it enough to tell me,

LOL. She sent me a copy of the report:

" Frontal, lateral and oblique views of the lumbar spine show

genearalized osteopenia. There is a slight anterior spondylolisthesis

of L4 on L5 with relative narrowing of the disk space. No pars defect

or destructive lesion suggested. No acute fracture is present. Mild

scoliosis present convex to the left.

Conclusion:

Osteopenia with Grade 1 anterior spondylolisthesis of L4 on L5 with

degenerative changes. No acute bony abnormality. "

The nurse looked up the word " spondylolisthesis " and then said it meant

a slipped disk. I looked it up and found out that it's actually a

slipped vertebra.

So I guess that my rheumy was right when he's said all along that it

was probably osteoarthritis in my lumbar spine.

I did get a prescription for lidoderm patches. Man, those things are

expensive! My co-pay was a dollar apiece, and then the insurance

company had to pay another five dollars a piece. Clora, I'm wondering

if these are the ones you use.

I'm also wondering if anyone else here has had a similar diagnosis, and

if so, what treatment did you have? Did it work? I would like to get

rid of the pain in my lower back that I've had now for over two years.
