Hi,

My rheumy decided since I was so jittery and on edge to put me on 2 mg of Valium

1-2 every 6 hours as needed with the steroids since I just take steroids in

short bursts which lately has been about a week a month.  It does seem to make a

difference, but I cannot say that it does not make me nervous taking it.  I

worry about everything anyhow, but it does make me nicer and not too sedated.  I

am an insomniac on the steroids anyhow so it helps with that.  Hope this helps,

and let me know what happens with your case.

I have been on edge too. I started prednisone about 2 1/2 weeks ago.

Is it the prednisone that causes this? I usually am very sleepy, but

not now. I think it's the prednisone.

I'm still new to this experience, but I've been taking Prednisone for a couple

of months so I can tell you that it definitely makes you edgy and difficult to

sleep. Every time my rheumy in creases my dose I go through a few days of

sleeplessness. I constantly have to remind myself not to take the edginess out

on my children, who are only 3 and 10. I'm very glad you all had this

discussion about pain, it is so difficult to describe to people who don't

experience it. I have the most trouble with them understanding the fact that,

even on a very good day, the pain isn't " gone " . When they ask me if I'm having

a good day and I say yes, they respond with something like " oh good, I knew it

would go away " . I have to explain to them that it never " goes away " it is just

very dull on a good day and very sharp on a bad one, but always there.

Thank you , It never goes away. I can exlain to my family,

whether it's a bad day or good day. They think the pain is gone if its

a good day. I had a fear of getting pain when I got old. That was

silly. My pain started in my early 20s. I am 54 now.

I start my humira in about 10 more days. I think I said 10 more days

yesterday haaaaaa. I know it might not work and than again it might

work. I still would like to know why some meds help people and the

same meds dont help other people. The plaqunil and the sulfzaline

does nothing for my pain, and others say it helps them. Do we have the

same RA?? Why is this, anyone know???

Clora,

The plaquenil doesn't seem to do anything for me

either. I don't know why some things work for some

and not others. I guess we just have to figure out

our appropriate cocktail of drugs and hope for the

best. I am going to ask to stop the plaquenil this

fall because it has been almost a year and it doesn't

seem to work for me. I hope it is a good day for you.

Ali and group;

Awe thank you for answering my question Ali. I just thought there

might be an answer. The science community seems to know all about the

blood of people with RA, they could figure out why Plaquenil helps

some and not others. Pain pills don't even help my pain.

I guess your right, We find the right cocktail and go for it haaaaa. I

am in so much pain that I don't care about the side affects, I don't

even ask what are the side affects. When I got a new script I would

run to my computer and look up the side affects Not anymore

haaaaaaaa. Besides it dont mean 100 percent we will have the side

affect.

gentle hugs everyone
