Guest guest
Clora, I don't know what you saw when you looked up Reynaud's, but there are different stages just like most other diseases & you may have seen a " worst case. " I just mentioned to Dennis about cracking, bleeding fingers. I have this in the winter, but imagine having that year-round? I think most people get cold ears, nose and feet since when it's cold, our body tries to conserve all its heat in our core to protect our vital organs. Reynaud's, however, can cause damage to the skin and the underlying tissue and muscle in the worst cases. Unfortunately, there is an association with RA and Reynaud's. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of CLORA Sent: Friday, August 15, 2008 11:01 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Another diagnosis- Reynaud's Dennis in E.Texas and Group; I have RA, IBS, Fibro, I noticed you said your feet get cold from reynauds disease. I have that problem with my ears nose and feet. They dont get like the picture I looked up on the net. I hope I dont have reynauds. I got enough for a bunch of people. There is not much you can do about it. I hope you feel better. gentle hugs Clora
Guest guest
Clora, I sent some information to the group about Raynaud's. For a full explanation of the condition, do read one or more of the articles. I have Raynaud's. It isn't cold fingers, toes, ears, and nose, although these body parts may be affected by Raynaud's. What happens in a person with Raynaud's is that, sometimes, when she is exposed to cold, her blood vessels contract abnormally (vasospasm). The normal blood flow to, for example, the fingers is significantly reduced or cut off. This causes the fingers to change color. Some parts may be white and others may be blue. She may also experience numbness. When the person rewarms herself, blood starts flowing normally again. Her fingers may become a bit red, or they may just return to their normal color. Tingling may be part of this last phase. As a primary condition, Raynaud's (Raynaud's disease) is usually not serious. As a secondary condition (Raynaud's phenomenon), it can be. For example, people with systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) and Raynaud's phenomenon have to protect themselves from attacks because the repeated vasoconstriction can lead to serious damage to the affected tissues. Guest guest
My doctor mentioned a medication he could give me last winter when my symptoms starting kicking in. We decided that I wasn't experiencing severe problems and I'd be better off not adding another medication to the mix unless necessary. He never mentioned the name of it, but I'm glad that your med is helping so much. Makes me feel confident that there's something out there if I should ever need it. Hope your good results continue, Diane! _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of diane crawford Sent: Saturday, August 16, 2008 5:55 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Another diagnosis- Reynaud's I have reynaulds too..I finally re addressed it again...My rheumy prescribed a low dose norvasc to take at bedtime...I was scared about starting it and had a discussion with my family doc..she encouraged me to take it, it would help with circulation, especially with people suffering with arthris..I have notice a great big difference..I feel my limbs and body are warmer. I was always cold, couldnt get warm..Now when im in contact with something cold, i start to feel the sensation that caused my finger and toe turn blue, but it stops quickly...My finger and toes are nice and pink...diane
