Guest guest
Tracie - I have RA (diagnosed a year ago at age 31) and I too had an extremely stressfull childhood with troubled parents. I just recently realized that as a child I probably could have been diagnosed with RA or JA at a young age if anyone had listened to my complaints. Also, I had chronic strep throat infections for many, many years, even past high school. No one in my family has an auto-immune disease, although my mother says that my great-grandmother was very very crippled. She died before I was born. Interesting topic, eh? --- In , Tracie Bragdon <tracierae143@...> wrote: > > hI, > > My RA does not run in my family. I am the first with it and I got it in my early to mid thirties. YES, it flares horribly when I am under stress. I had an extremely stressful childhood suffering migraines and other physical side effects from having alcoholic parents. It was very very difficult for me. I am curious if stress did play a role. I also wonder if my recurrent bouts of strep throat that were not treated promptly may have had something to do with it as I did not have my tonsils and adenoids out until I was 15 finally. My parents obviously did not put my healthcare at the top of their worry list since they were busy drinking. You get the picture. > > Tracie in Maine
