Guest guest
Of all the things we deal with ,this seems almost foolish but causes me embarrasment. I attended a lovely but quite small dinner theatre. Not applauding was quite noticable but my hands can not clap. The pain is unbearable. any suggestions? This was small enough that after the show I could address the actors and express my pleasure. the scenario seems quite prevalent. Any suggestions on how to appear gracious and appreciative? Guest guest
I totally understand! I've always enjoyed showing performers my appreciation for a good concert or theatrical presentation by enthusiastic clapping. Alas, I can't do that any more. But I've found that, on better days, I can experiment and find a different hand position where gentle clapping produces a light sound. At other times, I just " pretend " to clap, making the gestures without my hands actually meeting. Once upon a time I was a stage actress (no, nothing famous!), and I can tell you that looking out into the audience after a show and seeing smiling, beaming faces is as great reward as the clapping. So, just go through the motions and smile brightly! Prakasha
