Guest guest
Jeff, Welcome to our group, but I am sorry to hear that you are among our RA numbers. I have described pain in my hands the same as you. It feels like little gremlins working away with chisels. I am not sure how the rheumatologist can understand any of your pain without an examination, blood work or xrays. Like you I am in the dark there. I hope your appointment goes well. The right medications work wonders. Good luck, Shirley > > I'm going to see my rheumatologist for the first time this Monday, and I'd like to know whether anyone else experienced initial RA pain like mine. > > My pains are very sharp and strong, and feel as though someone is trying to break or chisel bones in my hands and feet. Guest guest
I think I know what you mean. I get sharp pains sometimes in my left wrist that cause me to want to scream out loud. When my hands are really, really bad, I have screamed. Sometimes I forget and try to do a normal movement - it happened when I was cleaning the bathroom one day & I was using a trigger spray cleaner. Well, I squeezed the trigger on the bottle and the pain in my fingers was so bad that I did scream out loud. Don't feel that your pains are uncommon. I'm sure we've all experienced these and I hope you're able to get some relief. Good luck tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi Jeff, I find I experience different kinds of pain. The pain when the muscles in a joint spasm are nearly unbearable & hard to describe. Like someone is stripping out hot barb wire from inside the muscles. I get a dull hot ache from swelling, another dull pain which has a bit more of an edge if I sit for too long inactive. The pain i get from getting up after sitting for a while is different again. The pain from standing or walking too long is a bit like the muscle spasm pain, just a lttle duller & it tends to fluctuate more. Sometimes it feels like I have glass on the ends of the joints that are rubbing into each other. The pain this time is different from my first flare. My first flare was very bad & intense & continous. It would be nice to know exactly what each pain really means. good luck with your Rheumy, Sharon of Oz > > I'm going to see my rheumatologist for the first time this Monday, and I'd like to know whether anyone else experienced initial RA pain like mine. > > My pains are very sharp and strong, and feel as though someone is trying to break or chisel bones in my hands and feet. Guest guest
Sharon and Group; Omg Sharon, You can explain pain so good. The pain where it feels like glass rubbing at the joint is how my wrist feels. The pain on the bottom of my feet feels like a rock is on it. No its not bone spurs, I had that checked. The pain in my lowest back feels like a muscle gets tighter as I try to walk. It gets so tight, I can't move. I have to lay on the bed till its over. I tried sitting but it starts hurting higher in the back, so I lie down and watch tv. Than my neck starts aching like my head is to heavy. I would like to know what each pains are too. lol We get so much pain and the rheumy figures it out as she/he gets rid of the pain. She said the lower pain is Osteo. The shoulder pain is bursitis, and the rest is RA. Does that help any haaaaaaaaaa. gentle hugs everyone Clora
