Hi Tawny,

I am constantly struggling with a vitamin D deficiency. Several factors, 8

years ago, I lost 180 pounds, I also live in the northeast, and last year I

was dx'd with RA. I also have severe iron def. anemia. In May I had to take

50,000 units of vitamin d just to get it back up to 20. Now it's low again.

I will have it retested again first week of September.

Hello group,.....I was curious to find out if anyone has a vit d

deficency problem. I have never had the problem before, until now.

It seems like my body is out of wack. Would like to welcome all the

new members. I am a old member, just haven't posted in awhile. I

have RA, and many other health issues. I am always here, if you would

like to email. I miss everyone, I hope all my RA friends are doing

better then me. It's been a rough year, but I don't lose my faith.

Take care all, and have a bless day, Tawny

Hi Tawny,

Something is always an adventure! currently I've had to double my dose of

calcitriol but only for a few weeks. It's such a catch 22, can't have too

much sun, meds don't allow it, need sun for vitamin d and so on and so on.

grrrrrr!!!! oh well. Just hop on the merry go round and go for a spin, but

pick a pretty horse! LOL.

Heidi,

Congrats on the weight loss:) I am dealing with the same problem,

can't seem to get it back where it needs to be. I use to have a lot of

problems with anemia, but not lately. Thanks for responding, and I

hope your lab will show a better result next time, Tawny

I do not post often, but I also have a vitamin D deficency. My rheumy

has me taking 50,000 mg (yeh, that is alot) of vitamin D once a week.

I have been on that for three months and my level has still not came

back up. Good luck.

Just as the news started " pushing " Vitamin D, my doctor wrote a script for

1,000 mg per day. I really don't understand because I stay out in the shade

mostly or a few hours on the tractor mowing the hay meadow or other reasons.

I had thought I'd have collected enough for all of us. ;)

Tawny, my rheumy checked my vitamin D level, and it was in the normal

range, but low normal. Just to be sure, I got some vitamin D pills and

started taking them. I don't get out in the sun that much, and I

thought that the pills wouldn't hurt.

What is your rheumy prescribing for your deficiency?

Dennis,....I try to stay out of the sun. Of course, most of the meds

don't allow me in the sun, and I have good old, sea too. It is

kind of strange though, it seems like you would get enough TX sunshine

for all of us. A lot of RA people seems to have this problem. Tawny

Hi Sue,....My rheumy prescribed, Vit D 1.25mg, 1 softgel PLI weekly.

I have been taking it for about three months. I did lab work

Thursday, so I'm hoping it has went up. I will still keep taking it,

I don't need any other health problems. It's nice to see you posting,

it's been awhile for me. Have a good weekend, Tawny

Hi Tawny, It's good you have you back with us. I'm sorry that you

haven't been doing well, and hope that you'll see some improvement soon.

I got some Vitamin D at WalMart. It's 2000 iu, and I've been taking one

every day.

Sue,

I would love to be able to post every day, but you know how that

goes. I will keep taking Vit D, even after it gets back to normal.

I've always taken extra Vit D, along with the multiple vit, but not

enough. I just get so tired of pills, but I'm not alone on that

thought. I see the Enbrel is still working for you, glad to hear it.

I took it for awhile, it just didn't work for me. I am on Humira for

now, not working yet, this is my second time trying. I hope there is

a cure soon, it would be so great. You take care, and have a great

weekend, Tawny
