I inject in my stomach and have had bruises before. When I did my first injection of Enbrel at the Dr's office I hit a vein and it started bruising quickly. This can happen as it is not an exact science

Guest guest
, It was probably just a small capillary that you hit and not a vein. Do you aspirate (pull back) on the syrienge plunger before you inject? If you do and see a small amount of blood come back in the syrienge then you have hit a capillary. Just push the needle in a little further and then push the med in. Some people do not teach this step as they say it is not going to hurt anything if you do hit a capillary but we were taught to aspirate even on subq injections in nursing school many many years ago. Make sure you put pressure on the injection site for a couple of minutes after you pull the needle out. Sometimes you will go thru a capillary and it will cause a little bruising. It is really nothing to worry about. It will go away in a few days. linda From: Peek <wendyhollander@...> Subject: [ ] enbrel vein Date: Saturday, August 23, 2008, 6:37 PM has anyone ever hit a vein when injecting? i am afraid i did. injection site has turned blue a little in the surrounding area.
