Guest guest
I don't have great advice, but I have had redness and itching at the injection site since starting Enbrel 2 months ago. I do think it is common, but calling your Rhuemy I think is a good idea. My insurance also has a support nurse that has been calling me monthly, with a pharmacy specialist that I can talk to. They did say it was common but to let the Rhuemy know. Good luck. Would love to hear what our Doctor says when you get ahold of him. --- In , Paquette <paquet16@...> wrote: > > I need answers from other Enbrel patients. I had my first shot 10/8 and I had a bruise at the site of the injection. Then, on Sunday I gave myself the second shot. Yesterday I developed a rash- like spot at the site of the first and second injection site. I didn't have a reaction with the first shot other than a bruise. According to the drug info it is common and can happen for the first 3 months. Also, only 7% of people experience this in other injection sites. Does this effect anyone in the group? I have a call into my rhuemy and waiting for call back. The injection site reaction does not itch. It is red and warm to touch. Has anyone applied a topical lotion to help heal the injection reaction? Any help with out great!! This was only my second shot so I don't know to do next!!! > > Thanks! > > > > > >
Guest guest
, I get an injection site reaction only occasionally. Mine are very mild, about like a mosquito bite, and are gone by the next day. I think we get a bruise when we hit a capillary. I inject in my stomach, where I have plenty of territory, and I think there are fewer nerve endings there. I have noticed that I'm less likely to get a reaction if I just stick the needle straight in instead of slanting it. I use Sarna anti-itch lotion when I have a reaction. Sometimes I put it on immediately after injection so that I won't get a reaction. Sue On Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at 10:56 AM, Paquette wrote: > I need answers from other Enbrel patients. Guest guest
, I didn't have any site reactions with my first two shots, then the third one was different. About 3-4 days after it I had a heavy rash and a bump where the needle went in. It was a little better when I did my fourth shot but the next day it was back like when it first came up and the newest location was doing the same thing. My fifth shot I switched to injecting my legs. The first one, no reaction but the sixth one had a little rash and was gone in a couple of days. This Friday will be number 7. I am sticking to my legs for now. I have not tried any cream. The reactions on my abdomin itched really bad. Shirley > > the site of the first and second injection site. Guest guest
It happens to me almost every time. I think I'm on my 13th week the first week nothing (except I felt fantastic)weeks 2-11 every single time no matter what I did big red itchy spot where I gave the injection the last 2 weeks almost nothing, but I'm a little itchy today around the spot. Hopefully it will get better. Diane
