Recently Diagnosed with Inflammatory Arthritis

Hello Everyone,

I'm not sure if I'm a good fit for this group as I haven't been diagnosed with

RA. I have been recently diagnosed with Inflammatory Arthritis. Fatigue,

weight loss, low grade fever, joint pain, swelling and redness are some of my

symptoms. My bloodwork was normal. My Rhumy gave me Etodolac and Plaquenil.

She said this may turn into RA. I also have Hypothyroidism.

Are there others here that either have this same diagnosis or that have had

Inflammatory Arthritis turn into RA? How long does a flare usually last? Can

Inflammatory Arthritis or RA be treated with herbs?

I really love to play violin, but haven't been able to since this illness has

come on. Are there musicians out there that are able to play through joint

problems? How?

Thanks for any information you can give.

-Keri

Hi Keri,

 Welcome to the group.

An Inflammatory arthritis diagnosis usually means they don't know the cause, it

could be RA (non-serotive (sp?)), a virus (like Ross River).

It's more of a symptom than an actual diagnosis.

I've actually been learning to play the guitar, as an exercise for my

fingers/hands. " Use it or lose " is very true. You may not feel like it, but try

to do as much exercise as you can. It's a deliciate balance between remaining

limber & not wearing yourself down too much so that you can't do anything for

days ( Look up " Have you got spoons? " )
