Guest guest
Hi, I like this new rheumy. It was my 2nd visit with him, although we've had several phone conversations. He really listens and checks things out. He noticed my really bad knuckle, right index finger...did lots of testing, then saw the skin discoloration on my pinky finger that I mentioned to the group the other night. He said that yes, it was from the shot and that the color would come back eventually. I ended up getting a knuckle shot today, I couldn't take the pain anymore and I know in a few days it will be almost back to normal. He decreased the Plaquenil from 2 pills a day to 1 a day and is glad that I'm having a peripheral vision test being done in a few weeks. He got to my feet and said they aren't too bad but they are a little bit rigid, he's surprised that I don't complain of pain in my feet. My hands are just weaker so we talked about how I've changed things in the house, etc. I'll see him again in 3 months. I told him that I lose feeling when my hands get cold and warm up, so he's concerned about that and is glad i'm seeing the neurologist on Friday. He is checking my sed rate and vitamin D. He suspects I'll be on 50,000 units once a month for quite some time. Never a dull moment! Hope everyone had a great day... Heidi in Mass. **************Play online games for FREE at Games.com! Guest guest
Hi Heidi: I am so glad you like your new Rheumy. He sounds like he really listens to you, plus he checks you over to see how things are. A good Rheumy is worth everything!!! I love mine!!!! I am also glad you got your knuckle shot today.... I know that will help you get out of that awful pain. Glad it was a option for you. I had my eyes checked out before going on the Placquenil, all was fine, and he checks me out with each visit. He is a wonderful, thorough Opthamologist, and removed cataracks from both of my eyes due to Prednisone. My eyes are perfect, thank God. I was thinking of you today, and your appt. Nice when things go good for us. I will be thinking of you and praying your Neuro. appt. goes well this week. God Bless you Heidi, and wishing you pain free days. Guest guest
Hi there, Yes it is nice to have a Rheumy that listens. He also called me back at 5 minutes to 5 with my blood test results! Apparently he ordered them stat. My liver is out of whack. So, no MTX for this week for sure, and now when I do start it again, I'm to decrease from 8 pills to 6 and then he wants another blood test. He didn't want to do a knuckle shot today as I've had so many shots lately he just wants to give my system a break. I have to go back in a month and he'll reevaluate that nodule/cyst and everything else. I'm just frustrated that now I have Fibro added to the mix. Another DX. I have so many meds right now, and he's really good about reviewing what I'm on and not wanting anything to clash with another. I always bring him an updated list. Oh well, this is my life. I know I'm not alone and I'm glad you replied to let me realize that. Thanks so much ! Heidi in snowy Mass. In a message dated 1/20/2009 8:58:47 P.M. He understands when he asks how I am doing, and my answer is " My knees don't hurt " . I laugh and joke around, because for me at least to do otherwise means the RA is winning. It's nice to have a Rheumy that 'gets' you. I just wanted you to know that there is someone else out there who has gone weeks without their RA meds (I had surgery last month, and then caught a nasty cold.) So I've developed some lumps and bumps. My hands and feet are a mess, but I know that in a couple of weeks back on the meds I will feel better. The Doc thinks the nodules are either ganglian cysts or just my garden variety RA nodules. You will be happy to know, that they will go away. Just give them time. I hope your week and the coming month is better and with less pain. And know that you are not alone in this. **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! Guest guest
I am new here, but was intrigued by the fact that you mentioned having fibro with RA. I have had fibro for 15 years and was recently diagnosed with RA. The meds are numerous! I will be starting Methotrexate this weekend because, at least for now, I am trying to keep my job. The 1st rheumy I saw said it was impossible to have both fibro and RA, so I went somewhere else. I really like this new doc. He seems to really care and he listens. I am on a laundry list of drugs, but have just started predisone and folic acid and one or the other is making me sick to my stomach - can't wait to see what the MX does! > > Hi there, > > Yes it is nice to have a Rheumy that listens. Guest guest
Hi Heidi - You're not alone. I have RA and Fibromyalgia, too. I take the MTX injections instead of the pills and my system seems to be liking it better. I take Neurontin for the FM - that helps, but I get so sleepy for a while in the mornings. I also have nodules forming on my knuckles. My Rheumy didn't seem to concerned about them, but man oh man to they hurt if I bump them. Hang in there. Praying that you feel better soon.....Doreen > > Hi there, > > Yes it is nice to have a Rheumy that listens. He also called me > back at 5 minutes to 5 with my blood test results!
