Like you, I read everything I could get my hands on too!! I was

diagnosed just over 4 months ago. One thing that I found out but

didn't know/realize is that it's a very slow progress (at least for

me). My doctor put me on Prednisone and Plaquenil and I thought I

would be all better in a week maybe a month. 2 months later, turned

out Plaq was not the drug that worked for me and even though I am

still on it combined with Methotrexate, there is a lot

of " experimenting " with what drug works for you and the drugs take up

to months to be at their " full effect " . 2 months on Meth and he has

increased the dosage b/c still in pain. I have heard alot of good

about fish oil but I am taking so much now I couldn't bring myself to

take anything else. One supplement I am trying is Calcium-Magnesium

+ Zinc. I have a friend with OA and she says it helped her but it

(once again...) takes a while for it to kick in. Also, it's great

that you have a list of questions. I also started keeping a journal

with a fact section, question section, and a daily area. Good luck!!

Hi

I was a vegetarian for most of my teenage years so i took multi vitamins, i also

took evening primrose oil cause i used to freak out on those monthly moments us

girls have and i took cod liver oil because my dad has RA, and a list of other

things that i too have inherited, my mother jokes i am his clone!! anyway i took

cod liver oil from the age of 17 until 28 when my problems first started, then i

decided it was just another pill so i stopped it and besides i now had what id

hoped to prevent. I know in the UKGlucosamine is popular for joints although it

has had some bad press lately

Im afraid to say ive accepted my fate and nowadays i only take the things ive

been told to in the hope ill get the effects im told to expect, i think the

difficulty is that no 2 people have the same prescription and no 2 people get

the same results, my goal is to have less pain and a more active life, surely

thats not a lot to ask?

anyway i wish you luck in finding what works for you!

Since I was only diagnosed 22 days ago, I have been reading

everything I can get my hands on!! Since you all are great experts,

can anyone shed some light on the below for me?

Does anyone feel Fish Oil pills help? From what I have been reading

it has a lot of great benefits.

I also have been taking a multi-vitamin for years. Does anyone find

one brand to be better than another?

I have an appointment with my Rhuemy next week. I have a list of

questions for him - I hope he doesn't think I am crazy :)

I am willing to do anything to help myself! This is the second week I

have done the 12 week walking program from the Arthritis Foundation.

Has anyone found this helpful? I have found my mornings have not

been as bad if I walk before I go to bed.

Does anyone have any helpful tips for us newbie's learning how to

deal…

Welcome , so glad your here, but sorry about your dx. I'm glad

you see a rheumy next week, and your doing right by reading all you

can about RA, before you step in the office. When I was first dx, I

knew nothing about this disease. It didn't take me long, this group

has helped me so much. Now, I can go in the doc's office, and I know

what their talking about, nice. Walking is good for RA, however I am

not able to do that. I've had RA for a long time, but wasn't dx until

about six years ago. So, my RA is very bad, I can't imagine doing any

type of exercise at this time. Sounds nice though. It sounds like

your doing all the right things, just keep us posted on your doc's

visit. Good luck, Tawny

,

Welcome to our group. Sorry about you DX though.

Reading and being aware is the best thing that you can do for

yourself. You are right on with the list. I find my rheummy dosen't

mind my questions at all. She is great.

Sorry, I can't help with your questions, for some reason (I need to

ask) my rheummy will not let me take vitamins.

I just wanted to welcome you and I hope you find this group helpful.

and group;

Wow a lot of new people this morning. Welcome Everyone. I

have read everything I could get my hands on about RA. I have

learned a lot more in our group than anywhere. I thought I was

behaving pretty badly with RA. But It's not true. I whined and cried

about my suffering here. To my surprise everyone has been careing

and compasionate with me.

I would like to thank everyone for their kind words to me. Barbara

and was the first I chatted with. Awe so sweet they are. So

sweet is everyone here. I have read that fish oils help a lot

katie. I love fish so I want to try it. I even like sardines

haaaaaaa. I havent tried it yet.

Moving your joints is very important with RA I hear. So walking is

great if you can. Right now I cant do much of anything. I can do a

lot more since I joined the group here. Thanks to the group.

I see my Rheumy today. Appointment is 2:30 pm. I am suppose to

start my injections today. Humira injections. I don't know how she

plans to do it. If she don't have humira there I guess it will be on

another appointment. I can't wait to try it. I heard it helped a lot

of RA people. I also heard it didnt help some too.

I wont get my post done till tongight since I got to go for my

appointment today. I will let everyone know how it went. I look

forwarding to reading my E-Mail from the group everyday. Usually I

read a bunch every few hours. I got 105 today. I will have to read

fast. Don't worry , I wont comment on all 105, I hope lol.

Gentle hugs everyone
