Guest guest
Several years ago, I had trouble with my jaws, too. From what I had read about TMJ, it seemed that maybe that was what I had. I thought to myself that if it was coming from RA, the medication I was on should help it. Fortunately, it did. So just maybe the Enbrel will help your jaw pain. Good luck! Guest guest
Chewing gum is not good for sore jaw joints! It makes it worst. I have TMJ. Maybe you have that also. Talk to your doctor and dentist.Feel better! Sanna [ ] Help needed for jaw pain I go on Enbrel begin 9/3/08 and right now I only have Motrin 800's. My right jaw has increased in pain over the last few days. I have been chewing gun continously but that doesn't seem to help anymore. Eating/chewing is impossible! Guest guest
, Sorry to hear about your jaw pain. I had horrible jaw pain a few years ago. I took up chewing gum, when I gave up smoking. That seem to irritate my jaw. Are you on a anti-inflammatory med? You might visit your doctor, he might recommend a steroid injection or pills. When I have BAD pain, my rheumy gives me a steroid shot. Hope you feel better soon, Tawny
Guest guest
Hi . I know from experience that if my sinuses are infected or I just have sinus pressure that they can push on your teeth and move them slightly out of alignment. This causes your bite to be off by maybe just millimeters but it can cause SERIOUS pain. The last time I had it not even percocet could block the pain. When I feel it I go to the dentist and he checks my bite and just barely takes off a teeny- tiny spot. I can notice the difference imediately. However it takes a little while for the pain as you have probably bruised the jaw. Hope this helps. wendy p.s. it's ragweed season! yipee! > > I go on Enbrel begin 9/3/08 and right now I only have Motrin 800's. My > right jaw has increased in pain over the last few days. Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. It seems odd to me that you are going from 800mg Motrin straight to Enbrel with nothing in between. As far as your jaw pain goes, I would contact your Rheumy right away. You shouldn't have to be in this much pain and Sept 3 is a long time to wait - especially where you might not get immediate relief from the Enbrel. Best of luck. Keep us posted.........Doreen > > I go on Enbrel begin 9/3/08 and right now I only have Motrin 800's. My > right jaw has increased in pain over the last few days. Guest guest
You're not on any of the meds for osteoporosis are you? Some of these meds are called bisphosphonates - I am on Boniva which is one of these meds. Some people using medicines similar to Boniva have developed bone loss in the jaw, also called osteonecrosis of the jaw. Symptoms of this condition may include jaw pain, swelling, numbness, loose teeth, gum infection, or slow healing after injury or surgery involving the gums. You may be more likely to develop osteonecrosis of the jaw if you have cancer or have been treated with chemotherapy <http://www.drugs.com/boniva.html##> , radiation, or steroids. Other conditions associated with osteonecrosis of the jaw include blood clotting disorders, anemia (low red blood cells), and a pre-existing dental problems. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of paquet16 Sent: Monday, August 25, 2008 10:46 AM Subject: [ ] Help needed for jaw pain I go on Enbrel begin 9/3/08 and right now I only have Motrin 800's. Guest guest
I have been on a 6 day pack of Prednisone twice in the last 6 weeks. I took the last pill one week ago. My RA inflammations have slowly been progressing and coming back into a flare up. I have contacted my Rheumy this morning and waiting to hear back from him. I hope he can prescribe an anti-inflammatory other than the Motrin 800's. Yes, I agree with everyone, I should be on something until I start the Enbrel. I am having pains in other joints but I can continue with my daily life but eating/chewing seems like an impossible task! Thank you everyone for your kind words of wisdom. I am learning to deal with my new limitations and it is great to have found a home to share experiences. I have only been diagnosed for about 6 weeks and I commend those of you who have battled this disease for years!!! > > > > I go on Enbrel begin 9/3/08 and right now I only have Motrin 800's. > My > > right jaw has increased in pain over the last few days.
