Guest guest
I get so many dirty looks when I park in a handicap spot! I know I don't have to go into the list of what can be painful when you have RA, but I also have peripheral neuropathy in my right leg. I need to park in a spot where I can fully open my door in order to swing that leg out. If I can find a regular spot at the end of a row, that's fine for me. I don't need to be up front by the building entrance. But it's become an inside joke with a good friend of mine...she says she loves to go holiday shopping with me since we get to park close to the store! Sometimes, that is. I think that more handicap spots should be required since so many times, there are none available. That is why I try hard to park in a regular spot so that someone else, perhaps in a wheelchair or using a walker, can use the designated handicap spots. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of rascalsniche@... Hi ...oh I know that feeling. I get out of my mustang and park in the handicap section if I have a particularly painful day. I have had one lady come up to me and tell me I couldn't park there Hugs..a Canton OH \
Guest guest
a and Group; I was like that one time long ago. I use to get so mad if I see a person park in a handicaap parking and look fine. I figured they were using a family member car or something. I would give them a dirty look. I feel so bad now for doing this. I know now people can look perfectly normal and be very handicaap. I tell anyone else like that to cool their jets. We cant know a persons pain. We can only know our own pain. I am so sorry for anyone parking in handicaap no matter what they look like I smile and say hello if I am near by. Of course they may be a few who should not park in handicaap. But we are not the handicaap police as you said haaaaaaaaaaa. LMBO. I had a mustang many years ago. Omg I love the old mustangs. My family says exercise to, and I will feel better. I could cry cause they just dont know. My husband still says it. I am very over weight so they think its my weight that causes the pain. I agree if I would lose weight I would feel better. But the RA would be the same. I try to explain it to them but they just dont understand RA. Please talk to your sister. They just don't understand it. Talk if its just the misunderstanding about RA. My whole famely thinks it too. I don't allow them to say it or bring it up any more. Oops I got to separate this into two paragraphs. I am getting good at this now haaaaaaaaa. I found a spot lol. I was just going to respond with a few sentenses. Its like me in real life. I love to talk I guess for me its writing as well haaaaaaaaaaa. Talk to much and type to much hahahaha. Most people enjoy listening to me so I don't worry about it. My dad would take me to W. VA. with him when I was a kid to keep him awake haaaaaa. Let me close to say God bless and take care everyone and be nice to everyone because someone may be carrying a heavy load. Gentle hugs everyone Clora
Guest guest
i hear what you are saying but exercise actually does help . see if your local YMCA has any arthritic swim classes these are great for loosing you up and being in the water makes it very much less stressful on your joints. i speak from experience . i have had rheumatoid and osteo for 20 years, have had both hips and one knee replaced and i thoroughly enjoy the arthritic swim classes. most YMCA's have several types of these classses from beginners to harder classes. GO FOR IT! From: CLORA <clora4jesus@...> Subject: [ ] Re: You don't look sick.... medicaid and using the system Date: Monday, August 25, 2008, 11:44 AM a and Group; I was like that one time long ago. Guest guest
a, Clora, & Group, I have a hanidcapped placecard too. I would get looks all the time, I have learned to ignore them. I excerise and it does help...some days you can't. My family isn't very supportive either. My mom's boyfriend always tells me that I am just lazy, I need to excerise and " quit milking the system " because he pays his taxes and all of my problems are all in my head. My mom doesn't even stand up for me when he goes on the attack. I am glad that I found this group, because it's nice talking to someone who knows exactly what you are going through. Guest guest
and Group; I am so sorry your treated like that. Its aweful for people to behave that way. Who every said that to you obvious don't know you. You sound like an honest and nice person. I am glad you don't take them to heart. I use to feel bad over what people say. I just chalk it up to ignorance on their part or they don't care and have a cruel streak. You may quote me if you like. What an aweful thing to say to a hurting person. My rheumy has told me not to do any kind of exercise yet because of the swelling. I do move around even though its so painful. I don't do a whole lot because of horrable pain. I plan to do swim exercise when I can. I use to belong to a swimming group at our neighborhood center. I have a handicaap card too. I don't get to many stares anymore. I have a hard time walking. This is one time I am listening to my doctor no exercise for me till she ok's it haaaaaaaa. gentle hugs everyone Clora > a, Clora, & Group, > > I have a hanidcapped placecard too. Guest guest
, I was an avid exerciser before becoming ill. I'm trying to get back into it as much as possible, but most days, it just doesn't happen! I do what I can, when I can. Don't worry about what others think. I don't get it..how do they know how anyone else feels? They have no right and should keep their mouth shut. When you want to scream, just come here and let it all out :-) Dorothy _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Sent: Monday, August 25, 2008 4:32 PM Subject: [ ] Re: You don't look sick.... medicaid and using the system a, Clora, & Group, I have a hanidcapped placecard too. Guest guest
I have one and seldom use it unless I am in a bad way or have residents along for the ride. But when I am hurting too bad I will swallow the pride and admit I need it. Guest guest
Dorothy, I was never a gym rat or anything like that. I don't drive, so I would walk everywhere. When I got RA...I cut back, but my RA was under control. When I went septic...it just made my RA/fibro worse then I could have imagined. Figures, just when I finally started to get back into an excerise routine...I find out that I can't because I need to have another surgery to repair a hernia, from my giant incision. My surgery is next week and I will be out of it for 6-8 weeks. I swear, if it wasn't for finding this group, I would be driving myself crazy. It's nice to know that you are not the only one who get's crap from strangers and unsupportive family members. My hubby understands, which is good...I know he gets frustrated sometimes because I hurt so much. For the most part...he's good. This group has been a life saver. Guest guest
Hope all goes well with your surgery, . And please get back on-line as soon as you can to let us know how you feel. Hopefully, they'll give you some heavy duty pain meds and you won't feel a thing for a few days :-) _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Sent: Monday, August 25, 2008 8:38 PM Subject: [ ] Re: You don't look sick.... medicaid and using the system Dorothy, I was never a gym rat or anything like that.
