I am only taking predisone for emergencies. It causes severe psoriasis

rebounds even when I do a long taper off of it. In addition, the weight gain,

thinning of the skin, osteoporosis, etc...are all things that I want to avoid.

Hi ,

In addition to the bad side effects of prednisone, that you mentioned, this

medicine

caused my parathyroid glands to become overactive with the result that I had

to have

one of my four parathyroid glands removed (twice) within three years because

the

prednisone was drawing calcium out of my bones, so much that I also have

diabetes

and osteoporosis. Moreover, I have endured in 1998 both double hip and double

knee surgeries to replace those four joints. Now, I can walk inside within

any assistance, but I use a cane or walker when I go outside.

Sincerely,

Reid (age 60) in Washington DC

Hi, I was put on predisone because of a flare and being sick. I knew

something wasn't quite right but couldn't put my finger on it. This was

after the 1st day. Then my moods were crazy, I was so agaittated,

breathing problems. I thought my head was going to spin. Ended up in

the hospital, doc says I can't take it anymore. He said it would take

about a week to recover. I feel so weak and still a little moody. I

still have problems getting a deep breath. My legs feel like rubber. I

have Lupus Sle, fibro and RA. I also have herniated disc in my back

that I am getting ready to have injections. This is the first I have

been up since all of this, I have slept. Anyone else with reactions

like this? If is diffucult to find meds that interact with me. Thank you

Coetta,

That terrible. How much prednisone did you take?

Do you have a rheumatologist?

Not an MD

Coetta,

How horrible for you. I hope you are recoverd soon.

I have not had anything to that level. I do get the crazy mood

swings, but I am not sure if that is prednisone or just me with the

usual distress of RA.

Take care of yourself.

Hi Coetta - I am so sorry you had such a horrible reaction to the

Prednisone. I don't care for the side effects that I get from it, but

nothing as severe as what you experienced. I hope you are feeling

better soon...........Doreen :)

Dr Zagon would tell you certainly not, keep taking the LDN........

Celia

I got a terrible sinus infection and the doc put me on 20 mg of prednisone for 4 days and 10 mg. for 4 days as well as an antibiotic. Do I have to come off the LDN? I can't find a definitive answer on the websites about short term use.
