Welcome Glenn. I am a type 2 diabetic. I haven't needed insulin or any

other medication so far. You have already mentioned the biggest part of a

weight lost program which is motivation. You lost 50lbs in 2 months so you

have proven you can do it. The important thing now is to develop a meal plan

and life style adjustment that will keep it off. You didn't mention if you

have any other related problems such as high cholesterol, blood pressure or

high blood/glucose levels (bgs). Is your inability to walk a result of a

physical condition or due to years of being inactive?

Developing a meal plan that will keep you healthy is hard to due on your own.

I needed the help of a nutritionist to provide guidance. I would suggestion

you do the same.

Exercise is important to us all, diabetic or not. To be of any real benefit

it needs to be something you will keep up for the rest of your life. There

are exercise programs even for people in wheel chairs so I am sure you will

be able to find a program that works for you. Exercising in a group, at a

local Y or health club, often helps people stay with a program.

I am not going to suggest anything specific because I don't know enough about

your situation. Let us know some more details and you will get plenty of

useful advice.

Hello mrglen2691@...,

In reference to your comment:

Glenn, what are you currently doing to try to manage your diabetes?

Please forgive me if you've told us recently, there's been a lot of mail, and

a bunch of new folks on here :)

Ie What medication, how often are you testing your bs, do you have your own

meter etc?

Are you willing to try low/moderate carb eating? Is this not an option for

you?

These are some of the questions that we need to know, to know how to best

make suggestions for you :)
