Hi Brad: I was happy to read you are doing so well on this interesting

diet. I am glad your stomach is also feeling so much better.

I am interested in what your Rheumy says at your next appt., and I will

be watching for your post about your lab. work too.

Wishing you more good days, and glad you are feeling so good. So very

happy for you.

Hugs,

Barbara

foods. Somewhere the line would be crossed. But all processed food is

Thanks Brad and I'm glad you're feeling better.  For the past several weeks I've

been taking a tumeric supplement with curcurmin (sp?).  I think there was some

buzz that it may be a good antiinflammatory.  Could be a coincidence, but I'm

off pred for the first time in a long time.  I defer to for the current

literature, but I figured it couldn't hurt.

I bought the book. It was plesant reading. I personally could not do that rigid

of a diet unless I was locked up in a straight jacket. I wish those who try it

well. Please keep us informed.

Is this McFerran related to Bobby McFerran - you know the one

who sang " Don't Worry, Be Happy " ? Just kidding - it was something that

popped into my head when I read the name. **rolling my eyes**

As far as specific diets go, from all that I've read, I personally

don't believe that diet alone will be the cure-all for RA. I believe

there are certain foods that react on some people in specific ways.

For example, if I have too much bread or anything that's made with

yeast, I get cold-like symptoms - or if I drink whole milk too often,

then the reflux and IBS act up. I know of people that have greatly

relieved their Celiac Disease symptoms by stearing clear of foods with

gluten. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if we discover that a

specific food makes us feel exasperated RA symptoms, then it would be

a good idea to either eliminate or minimize that particular food in

our diets.

Of course I am always hoping for that miracle food or cure that will

take this all away, but in the meantime, I'll do the best I can with

what I have and know. Please know that I certainly appreciate all of

the well thought out alternatives that are shared here.

i am at the point that i am willing to try anything to get off these meds. im

only on methotrexate and 10 mg pred. but ive been so sick with this ugly cough

and no one else in my family has been sick. i actually have an appointment

tomorrow at 8 to see a naturopathic. this is my second one to see. the first one

was new and seemed to change her mind every time i went in on how to treat it.

this doctor has been around awhile and i asked if he has successfully helped

anyone with ra and he said yes. we'll see. im not excited about my appointment

but i do not like my rhuematologist and i dont want to go back. id rather be a

cripple. not really, but i do have a nasty attitude. why me? why you? did god do

this to us? JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! about the god thing.

If I were to do this diet.... I would find a BEAN in all of my favorite

food......

I would play the " Coffee comes from BEANS..... Chocolate starts with cocoa

BEANS.... " card heavily!

Kami - you are too funny. I think I would play the bean card, too. I

L-O-V-E chocolate and coffee. There are a lot of foods out there that

contain soy - another BEAN **roflol**. Seriously, though, Brad I am

happy you are finding relief in this diet. I don't think I would be

able to do it. Just the thought of all those beans gives me

gas............Doreen :D

hehe..actually when you eat enough of them they stop making you

toot. Thankfully, I don't have a problem with most beans in that

way. For me, it is green beans. Phew!

This diet is extremely hard to do, though. I've cheated several

times now since Halloween and all the chocolate and candy and the

pain has returned. It was just too much of a temptation. It reasons

that it would work, but there is no joy in eating when you have

nothing that tastes good, or even tastes at all. :)

Come on Willpower, don't fail me now!

Omg if you lived in my house there would be some beno in the cabinet.  And lots

of aerosol cans for the rooms.

I lived in beans growing up. Imagine 10 kids and 2 adults after a day of beans

haaaaaaaaaaa
