Guest guest
Dear , Clora, Dennis and all Friends : Interesting thing that had happened to me in the last weeks , is being an engineer by profession, I am trying to find answers for a lot of questions. And then start to get into more questions and get stuck up in the wall with the last stop being enviromental triggers, Infections and genetics. End of the day, make the best of what we live and thats what i am going to do with my wife. But , finally eventhough our destiny is not in our hands, what i read and understood is , there are 100 of auto immoune disease.....Grave's disease......until UC and more.....affecting 20-40% of the world population. In U.S. alone it seems identified auto immune patients is around 30 million + at any point of time. So at what age we get it, whats the trigger, why it happens........may be i have to die to find answers. But is it necessary. May be its luck or Supreme Power thats Guides the world, God. Thanks for hearing me and great knowing all of you. God Bless all. I dont want to go back the question. Why my Wife? regards LL
Guest guest
Amen Sue....positive attitute is key. I've had RA for 20 years, have had many many surgeries because of it and have almost died a couple of times from medicine side effects, etc. That said, when I hurt I am happy to get out of bed, when my hands hurt, i am happy to have hands and when my hips hurt, i am happy I can still walk. There ARE worse diseases out there that rob your brain of normal function, etc. Be happy for the family, friends you have, be happy for what you CAN do, not what you can't, if you are having a bad day, tomorrow will probably be better for you. Look at the glass as half full, not half empty. This year alone, I have had 3 neck surgeries, was hospitalized for 5 months, developed fluid around my heart and lungs and my family was told it was doubtful i would make it. I am so happy to be alive !! All of you will be ok, keep your chins up, someone out there always has it worse than you..........God Bless..........Jen > So at what age we get it, whats the trigger, why it > happens..... ...may be i have to die to find answers. Guest guest
LL, People of all ages get RA. Some get it as children, while some, like me, get it in their sixties. There is a genetic component to it, but there's also a trigger that is not yet understood completely. Why it happens to some people and not to others is a mystery. In my opinion, it's the genes we were born with and just the luck of the draw. There are worse things to have than RA. We just have to do the best we can with the cards we are dealt. A positive attitude helps in any sickness, I think. Guest guest
Jen, you have a wonderful attitude in spite of all that is on your plate. I'm sure that it helps to concentrate on what you do have instead of what you've had to give up. You go, girl! Guest guest
Hi Jen - I love your positive attitude. Its a good reminder to us all. This disease does not have to ruin us. I prefer to think of it as a challenge - Ok, so I can't do this like that anymore, but I can do it another way. Together we will ALL get through this. Guest guest
Ya that's what I am doing now trying to figure out new ways of doing things, well it is official the Dr has took me out of work, now we have to get the ball rolling for the disability, that's one thing if you can keep a postive attitude than you can tackle anything this disease deals you on a daily basis -- [ ] Re: getting to know all of you more.......
