Guest guest
and group; can you tell me from this report if it says it's ok to get flue shot if you have RA. Or it is undetermined. Sorry I don't understand the results. I don't need a lengthy explainationa. Unless you really want too. I am just wondering if they think its ok for flue shots its not ok or they just don't know for those with RA. NO offence intended. If anyone else understands it they are doctors or have a docorate degree. lol haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. That was funny. I am still laughing heehehehaahahaha. I don't understand a word of it and I went to college for 2 years for RN. I see flue and shot here and there lol. Of course that was many many years ago. Guest guest
Clora, This review explored whether RA patients receiving a TNF blocker plus MTX would benefit from receiving various vaccines. Since those DMARDs suppress the immune system, when people using them receive a vaccine, their immune systems may not respond to the vaccine strongly enough to provide adequate protection should they become infected with the real thing. Generally, it's safe for such patients to receive the killed vaccines, but whether the vaccine will work is the question. Guest guest
Kami and group; That's so true. Last June I was in the hospital for pneumonia I said but, I had the pneumonia shot. He said. " They don't always work. " I thought haaaaa why take it. It may have been worse if I hadn't taken it I guess. I wasn't on any TNF blockers. Unless plaqunil is one. I am still glad I took it. Especially the flue shot every time if I get the flue it would not last as long or be as bad. Now I don't know cause I am taking Humira Injections. said that was a TNF Blocker. Talking about our meds. I haven't taken my humira injection yet. I feel like I have a sinus cold. I am waiting to see if it clears up. I got a flue shot Thursday. I think its just the after affect from the flue shot. My daughter has a sinus infection and she lives with us. So I am waiting. Well Kami we will see hon I pray neither one of us gets the flue. I pray all of us stay healthy this winter. Take care and God bless. gentle hugs Clora > and group; > > can you tell me from this report if it says it's ok to get flue > shot if you have RA. Guest guest
Thanks for your excellent research. I'm going to call the rheumatologist's office tomorrow and ask the nurse what they're generally doing with patients on MTX and Humira. Maybe I misunderstood the doctor. I do remember from last year (when I was on MTX but not Humira) that he said it was good to take the flu shot in November. He said it will stretch-out the effect through more of the Winter months, versus taking it a month or 2 earlier and having the immunity end earlier. Since I've had RA, everytime that I catch a cold (or sinus infection) it generally goes to my lungs and results in 6-8 weeks of bronchitis. My internist puts me on an antibiotic at the beginning of every infection but it doesn't stop the long, drawn-out bronchitis and coughing. Does anyone else have that problem? Do you recover from colds slower than you did before RA? Stay well, Joy > > and group; > > > > can you tell me from this report if it says it's ok to get flue > > shot if you have RA.
