Hi Debbie - this seems a little strange to me. I would have thought

that if you are having recurring sinus troubles, an Ear, Nose & Throat

specialist would have been the one to see - not a neurologist. Has

your allergist ever ordered a sinus x-ray series? Maybe they are

impacted? Keep us posted. We care...........Doreen :)

Hi Doreen,

Thanks for your reply. I don't want to see my stupid ENT since she

won't do anything for me. In the past I saw her about my sinus

infection but she didn't give me anything. She's the one that did my

thyroid surgery though.

My allergist is willing to order a CT scan for me and not the sinus

xray series. Will call him Monday. Don't think my sinus are impacted

since I flush them out once or twice daily with my Ayr flush kit. Also

take decongestants each day, too.

hugs,

Hi Diane,

Thanks for your response. I have had sinus surgery also and was

allergy tests 3-4 years ago. Should have called my allergist today to

find out exactly when and also to get the scan. I do use Flonase in the

mornings.

Hi Debbie - you're quite welcome. I'm sorry things aren't good with

your ENT. I did have another thought, though. You mentioned that you

are taking decongestants every day. I have heard of a " rebound effect "

where your body would become dependent on the decongestant. I had

troubles with this years ago with the Afrin nasal decongestant spray.

May I recommend that you try to " wean " yourself off the decongestant?

The Ayr should take care of any swelling in the nasal passages without

having to use the decongestant too. After a few (or several) days, you

should begin to feel better without having to take a decongestant at all.

Just my humble opinion - I am not a medical professional - just an

experienced " rebounder " . Hope this helps.............Doreen :)

Wow, Debbie - there you have it. " FLONASE belongs to a class of

medications called intranasal corticosteroids that reduce

inflammation, therefore, reducing the nasal airway's response to

allergens and irritants in the air. "

http://www.flonase.com/about/works.html If you are taking a separate

decongestant, that would explain everything. Please let us know how

this all works out for you.........Doreen :)

Doreen that makes sense about the rebound effect. I usually take

Mucinex D twice a day or generic Sudafed PE twice a day but will cut

back on them and see what happens.

another thought too, I was on flonase for some years..My nose would dry

out and bleed..So he switch me over to the nasonex, and problem seemed

to resolved..He said that flonase contains some alcohol witch sould

cause that..I dont know if your having that problem too..Just a

thought...

Doreen and group;

Doreen a few years ok I did the same thing, and had to wean myself

off too. When I went to the docs, she is the one that told me. It

also has a warning in the pack when you purchase it. I hope that

helps Debbie.

So far I don't have any problem using my Flonase. In 2007 when my

insurance changed to Blue Cross I had to switch my Vancenase to

something else. I asked my allergist for Nasonex but he gave me the

Flonase instead.

Thanks Doreen!

Yesterday I took one Sudafed PE in the morning and again in the

evening. My headaches weren't as bad yesterday and so far today.
