Guest guest
Hi Im interested that you posted this topic, I have a friend who also has a friend with RA and my friend told me that she had heard from her friend that sex was good for RA also, I laughed and said well i cant get up a flight of stairs without pain so i dont think im capable of much else I dont have a partner but i am sort of seeing someone and the last twice we have done the deed i have been a mess the next day, the first time i could hardly walk due to the pain and stiffness in my hips and second time my back was agony. As someone who is only 32 with RA, single and worried about the stress either doing the deed would put on my RA, or not doing the deed because of my RA would put on a relationship im curious to know more about this subject! Sharon xx ________________________________ From: tcompare <tcompare@...> Sent: Tuesday, 4 November, 2008 18:19:30 Subject: [ ] Sex and RA Ok so I have been looking to see if anyone ever posts about this but have not found anyone yet. My DH thinks there is a correlation between sex and decreased RA pain, of course if a man could sell that he would right? But the funny thing is I think he might be on to something here. The last few weeks any time we have done the nasty I feel so much better tha next day, my symptoms seem to lessen for a day or 2. I have been having a horrid time with my feet in the last 3 months and just recently my hands started to bother me as well. I had mentioned to him on one day that I had almost no pain and had a really good day and he laughed and said its because of the gift I gave you last night. So long story short I have started to pay closer attention and he might be on to something... lol. I just wanted to ask if anyone else out there has noticed this. I am not sure if it is medically true or a placebo effect but either way I will take it and I will continue my research and let you all know......lol
Guest guest
Ya know, when I was a kid we called it nastys. I wonder if its a generation thing to use the word nastys for sex. (I am 55). Seeing how back than sex was a no no word. I taught my kids sex was a beautiful gift from God for married men and women. Married men to women. Cause people today and back then taught that sex was/is nasty. With all the sex today maybe we should still call it a no no. Guest guest
I wonder if it all matters what the mood is or the status of your love life....lol I am married to the same man for almost 15 years so our sex life may not be as exciting as your new relationship, maybe you are just putting too much into it (LOL LOL). And I agree going down stairs is hard for me with my feet being so very bad but I don't use my feet while partaking in that exercise...lol. I would assume if your hips are bad you might have a more difficult time, I guess eventually I will know as my disease progresses, although I hope not! I am so curious to see if the endorphans released during sex will prove to be a benefit to us pain sufferers! I am also in my 30's and diagnosed 2 years ago so fairly new to this stuff. Still looking for that magic cure that might be. Guest guest
I am interested to hear everyone else's view on this subject. I have been in my relationship for about 4 years now and I agree that sex is good for you but there are just too many times recently that the fatigue gets to me so much that I can barely make it to the bed.........and then with the fibro too when I turn over it wakes me and it hurts too......my partner does not seem to understand that I sleep so poorly that when I feel myself about to drift off to sleep that I do not want to be touched.........I never get a good night's sleep. But the one thing that does relax me enough to even think about sex is my hot tub before I go to sleep and maybe one glass of wine............ Guest guest
Pat in Origon and group; A planned day or night of sex will have to do if you need a hot soak in the tub and a glass of wine. Sounds good to me. I am sure hubby will understand, especially with his love for you. The spontanious thing will have to wait till your able. Sorry I waited so long to post it was the first redflag I posted. Got about 20 more to go lol. I want to add just since we are on the subject of sex. Marriage is not all about sex (it is nice though). When we have a loving relationship with our spouse, it is what makes a truly great marriage. Just thought I would throw that in. gentle hugs Clora > > I am interested to hear everyone else's view on this subject. Guest guest
Clora, I agree - marriage is about so much more than just sex. And its a good thing, too. Its been - well, lets just say a very long time - since we've " done the deed " because of medical problems on both sides of the fence. It was a struggle at first to get our heads wrapped around the TRUE meaning of marriage and how while sex may be important, it also doesn't have to mean doing the " full deed " . Warm hugs and shared kisses keep us going. We know that we're committed to each other for life - in sickness and in health - and that's all we need to know. Ok - that's all I'll say on this subject. Thank God blushing can't be seen via the internet **lol**.........Doreen > > Pat in Oregon and group; > > A planned day or night of sex will have to do if you need a hot > soak in the tub and a glass of wine. Guest guest
Doreen and group; That's good to hear. We are in the same situation, whereas my husband is very fit though. But he is attentive and caring. He spends most his time with me, especially since he does most of the housework and cooking. We are very happy with each other regardless of a sex life. gentle hugs Clora ****************************************************** > > Clora, I agree - marriage is about so much more than just sex. I am not sure if it is medically true or a placebo effect but either way I will take it and I will continue my research and let you all know......lol [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ************************<WBR>**Plan your next getaway with AOL Travel.
