Sex education to young children against India`s cultural ethos: BJP

New Delhi, May 19: Calling on the people to oppose the new sex

education programme of the Delhi government beginning this session,

the BJP Friday said the erroneous step would prove disastrous for the

character of youth and moral fabric of the nation.

Talking to mediapersons here Delhi state BJP president Harshvardhan

said in the rush to begin sex education from this session Chief

Minister Sheila Dikshit has overlooked the disastrous consequences of

this erroneous programme where small children would be taught about

masturbation, oral sex and homosexuality and not its aftermaths.

Instead of encouraging moral education, yoga, sports and positive

health education the Sheila Dikshit government was encouraging sex

education which has not just been rejected by the West but was also

alien to our cultural ethos, he further said.

When the West is discarding things after studying the consequences of

immoral acts over decades, we in India are adopting them despite

their being widely opposed at all levels and even by the teachers,

said the former WHO doctor.

''The sex education programme was being opposed even in Kerala where

literacy rate was nearly 100 per cent.'' All this was being promoted

under the garb of spreading awareness on AIDS at the behest of

foreign multi-nationals who were unaware of India's cultural roots

and its heritage of joint family and moral education, Harshvardhan

added.
