When I first started eating all this fat I got a bit squeamish as I think

most people eat the SAD diet do that is so low in fat. I was told to take

Swedish bitters which helps to produce more bile. I did that for awhile and

now have no problems with fat. Swedish bitters are good for a lot of

things.

Food Allergies and Absorption of Fat

Hey everone..

I have a bit of an issue, as you know of the hunger problem...

we think its a parasite from various symptoms i have. Notsure tho.

Anyways another problem i have, is i have a great deal of difficulty

absorbing fat! Some of the fattier foods i have developed reactions

to. I eat all organic whole foods no additives whatsoever. But im

frustrated because im missing out on all this nutritious food!

How can i reverse these allergies? I didnt used to have them

how can i get my body to absorb fat better so i can nourish my

body better?

Thanks so much!

( mani have alot of questions lately!)

I second the sweedish bitters. Bile is extremely important in order to

digest non-emulsified fats. It acts just like the egg lecithin used in

making mayo.

I would also like to add that I found increasing the amount of emulsified

fats I ate (mayo and the like) helped more immediately. But you definately

need the bitters.

Oh, and one more thing - don't take the bitters at the same time as the

fat. I did this by accident and felt like my stomach was a butter churn for

a few hours afterwards.

My bottle doesn't have instructions on when to take it, only how. :)

Thanks for the tip!

on Myvitanet.com. Im not sure which one she is talking

about tho, because there are several herbal preparations

You might consider going gluten free for a spell to see if your fat

absorption improves. One of the tests for gluten intolerance is the presence

of undigested fat in the intestines, because gluten damages the villi making

it difficult to absorb fat.

Gluten intolerance might explain your constant hunger and allergies as well.

And since it's so common, I think it's worth looking into (going GF or

getting tested for gluten sensitivity).

If you hunt around a bit you can see which greens are in bitters; I

remember dandelion greens, arugula, mustard, cress, and I think even

cilantro are in there, depending on the source; there's a Chinese

bitters as well. I think the whole " bitters " thing is just

concentrating greens, so eating them should work well as well, and

maybe better because of the other nutrients in there.

I must have been thinking of a different kind of bitters, here's the

recipe I found for the real " Swedish Bitters "

Swedish Bitters Recipe

10 gm. Aloe

5gm. Myrrh

0.2gm. Saffron

10 gm. Senna leaves

10 gm. Camphor

10 gm. roots

10 gm Zedvoary roots

10 gm. Manna

10 gm. Theriac venezian

5 gm. Carline Thistle roots

10 gm Rhubarb roots

This mixture is put into a wide-necked 2 liter bottle and 1 1/2

liter of 38% to 40% rye or fruit spirit are poured over it. The

bottle is left standing in the sun or near the stove for 14 days and

shaken daily. The liquid is then strained and poured into small

bottles, well stoppered and stored in a cool place. This way it can

be left in the bottle until needed. The longer it stands in the

bottle, the more effective it becomes! Shake well before use!

Alternatively some of the liquid can be strained into a small bottle

and used as needed for many years.
