Guest guest
, > My grandmother was just given Fosamax. My reading has been mostly on the issue of vitamins A and D so would be skewed that way. Just browsing through the treatment chapter of _Bone and Mineral Disorders_ (Coe and Favus eds., 2002), it lists sections on lifestyle (avoiding skeletal insults, weight maintenance, exercise, general diet) calcium, vitamin D, HRT, selective estrogen receptor modulators, bisphosphonates, thiazades, calcitonin, fluoride (which it says increases bone matrix production but leads to crappy matrix so doesn't reduce fractures), vitamin D metabolites, anabolic steroids, and then a small section on " future treatments " (which might be current now. What's Fosamax? Does it fall under one of those categories? Chris -- Dioxins in Animal Foods: A Case For Vegetarianism?
