Well if you have been to Brisbane city then you've been VERY close to my

town ' Surfers Paradise' . Yes it can be over 100 F here around that time.

Most Aussies go to someone's pool or to the beach to try out Santas latest

offerings !

No I have NEVER climbed Ayres Rock but just came back from DEAD MANS BEACH ,

I bet you never went there !!! haha

Hey, Marcus. Surfers Paradise?? Dead Man's Beach?? This sounds like a

conflict of interests! LOL Hopefully the surfers avoid Dead Man's beach!

You are right, I have never heard of either.

I made the horrible mistake of traveling by train in eastern Australia. Took

the train from Kairns to Brisbane a couple days before Xmas and did not

arrive till Xmas morning.... I have never seen more eucalyptus trees in my

life! The trains are ok if you got 40 years to travel around Australia but

otherwise its a lousy idea since they go very slow and stop in every nook and

cranny along the way. I mean, we were stopping at stops along the track that

just had a hut and a hook with a mail bag hanging on it. I had thought that

travel by train would be a lovely experience the way it is in Europe.

Well, I did the train from Brisbane then down to Melourne and then to

Adelaide. In Adelaide decided that if I wanted to get to Alice Springs I

better fly or it will take a month of Sunday's to complete the tour. I had

bought Austrail passes for the 3 weeks I were there but later decided to just

fly around. That was far better but your airlines (in 85) were very

expensive. I was told that you guys only had 2 different airlines and both

were owned by the government. Maybe I misunderstood but my uncles said it is

cheaper to fly out of the country than it is to fly internally. Is this

still true?

Oh, by the way, I also understand that the beaches along Queensland are

jellyfish infested parts of the year and too dangerous to enter the water. I

don't remember what time of year that problem exists. I had gone out to the

Barrier Reef from Kairns out past or near Green Island (I think that is the

name) and had a great time. It is amazing to swim with 300 pound fish next

to you. It has been a while since I went snorkeling; the water here

(northern California) is neither warm nor clear enough to do it.

Hey Rosemary this is impressive stuff. You forgot to mention how many people

have been killed by sharks in OZ in the past few months. Five or Six I think

in 4 months I think. ???
