Hi Alan

Caravan of Dreams is a great vegan raw food restaurant in the East Village on

east 6th I

believe. You can viewe their menu here: http://www.caravanofdreams.net

A high-end restaurant with organ meats is Babbo http://www.babbonyc.com

From their menu online:

Lamb's Brain " Francobolli "

with Lemon and Sage $18

Goose Liver Ravioli

with Balsamic Vinegar and Brown Butter $19

Black Pepper Pappardelle

with Wild Boar Ragu $23

Beef Cheek Ravioli

with Crushed Squab Liver and Black Truffles $21

etc. etc.

Not sure if either one is what you're looking for...but both are great quality.

Have fun in NYC!

could provide the food if someone else provided the cooking-maybe I can

work that out.

Are you going to be able to cook or otherwise prepare any food?

, I won't have cooking appliances. Perhaps I'll have access to a

refrigerator.

That definitely makes things harder. How long will you be in the

city? And do you have plenty of fundage, or are you on a budget?

Well, there's a great farmers market in Union Square in Manhattan on

M/W/F/Sa. I can recommend some farm stands if you like. There are

also several Whole Foods stores around the city, and Fairway (74th &

Broadway) is also worth a look. If you can arrange cooking, then the

sky's the limit. If not, you're in much rougher waters.

Thanks, , for the recommendations. My stay in NYC went

especially well from the food perspective. I frequented Whole Foods

quite often. Also, I brought cheese and ghee from home which I

stored in a cool place, unrefrigerated. There couldn't have been

much smell since my spouse did not complain. These came in handy for

the trip there and

back.

I wasn't a stickler for organic food, though, since I figured my trip

was short enough. I hope my experience encourages those who are

reluctant to travel because of food choices. I am becoming more

comfortable travelling.

I grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan!

I wouldn't say 168th would be considered UWS, but im sure they have lots of

rotisserie chicken places around.

Malecon on 97th and Amsterdam is my favorite.

stay on Bee's diet--anyone know of good places to get food there? I'll be near

168th Street and I'm interested in food stores as well as restaurants. Thank

you!
