Guest guest
On the news the other night, they were talking about new words of the year, one of them was Muffin Top - the part of the stomach that hangs over the top of your pants. Is it just me, or is this generation getting a lot more muffin tops than when I was a kid??? Is it from the increase in sugar comsumption alone, or thyroid problems from fluoride, or something else???? says eating genetically modified foods causes enlargement of the internal organs in lab/farm animals. Is that giving us muffin tops? I'm afraid of these muffin tops and what they mean.

People are getting fatter and fatter and fatter. It's not just you. >Is it from the increase in sugar comsumption alone, or thyroid >problems from fluoride, or something else???? More refined carbs, more PUFA, more trans fats, more pollutants, less nutrition -- you name it. -

Have heard the same phenoma called a marsupial pouch. :-) What is interesting is that Asians with higher carbohydrate diet from rice have longer intestines than say Inuits with a high fat/protein diet. An Asian with a muffin top or marsupial pouch is rare on their traditional diet until SAD entered their diet or they immigrate to the U.S. You might want to read Biochemical Individuality by J. , considered the father of metabolic typing. Probably. But did people dress in a way that would have made this an issue when you were a kid?

I read an article that attributed the appearance of this word to the ubiquitous low-waisted jeans of the past few years. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Canfield Be the master of your will, and the slave of your conscience. ~Yiddish proverb " The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. Further, there were no fat children or adults at all. These were slides taken throughout the forties, fifties, and sixties by people of their families, festivities, and vacations. The presenter has a massive collection culled from thrift shops, estate sales and donations from strangers all accross the country. It's a fascinating--to me--documentation on how people lived mid-century. There are always pitchers of whole milk on the dinner table, alongside mostly wretched party food. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to take photos of everyday meals. All the adults are frequently smoking and drinking. B.

Back in the early use of trans fat and high fructose corn syrup and less refined carbs. Tv only at night and kids outside to play during the day. Took another generation for what were overweight people with underactive thyroid then ( reason assumed for obesity) to become insulin resistant and type II diabetic overweight.
