Guest guest Posted January 11, 2007 Report Share Posted January 11, 2007 Lecture on HIV and AIDS prevention organised at PU: Chandigarh Express News Service Chandigarh, January 10: Highlighting the significance of social values in fighting AIDS, a lecture on `Cultural Values and HIV/AIDS' was organised at Panjab University by the Centre for Adult, Continuing Education and Extension (CACEE), PU, today. Programme incharge, CACEE, Renu Gandhi said appreciation of family institutions along with cultural values were important for the prevention of HIV/AIDS. She said faithfulness to the partner was the wisest form of HIV prevention. Coordinator, AIDS Helpline, Chandigarh, Dr Avnish Jolly maintained that HIV/AIDS was no more a sexual and medical problem but was related to the social and cultural aspects of the society. He also talked about the facts and myths surrounding AIDS. Reader in the Department of Sociology Dr Kiranpreet Kaur said, " We need an interactive society that helps us fight the social and day-to- day problems.
