Guest guest
Hello Everybody!! I had a large 11cm fibroid removed in Nov 2001. I have NOW gotten pregnant as of March 2002. My husband & I are very excited and happy as can be!! I am just wondering if anybody has gotten pregnant so soon after MYO and if so, did you notice that your belly seemed to get bigger right away. I was trying to figure out how I could only be about 4 weeks prego and feel so huge and bloated. Then I read how if you've already had one baby, your uterus tends to get bigger faster w/ the 2nd pregnancy. I am wondering if that is what is happening to my belly even though this is my first baby... my uterus thinks it's my 2nd pregnancy. I had 16-20 week pregnancy belly w/ the fibroid!!?!?! If anybody has any input at all, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!! Hope everyone is doing well!! Kristi
Guest guest
My surgeon told me, even before surgery, and certainly afterwards, that I will have to have c-sections when I get pregnant. I know that the concern is with the uterus rupturing, presumably during labour.
Guest guest
Hello group, My name is Dana and I have recently joined this group. I found out April 4th that I have a fibroid in the upper left corner of my uterus near my left tube. I am scheduled for a hysteroscopy and myomectomy on May 2nd. I have lots of fear about this sugery, but my biggest is not being able to have a baby after it is over. I have lost two pregnancies to this fibroid, and I hope to have at least one child before my fertile years are over. I would like to know if there are a lot of members here who have had their fibroids removed and have gone on to have healthy babies and " normal " pregnancies. Well, that is all for my introduction. I hope to hear from you all soon. Thanks. Dana 2 miscarriages and myomectomy scheduled for May 2nd.
Guest guest
Dear Beri- Would you please clarify what you mean by a " 24 wk " fibroid? Does that mean, due to the fibroid, your uterus was the size of a 24-week pregnacy? Thank you, Rhonda > Hi Kristi, > Congratulations!! I didn't get pregnant immediately after myo, infact it was about nearly nine months afterwards. I had a 24wk fibroid taken out and now have a healthy 4 months old daughter. Yes, the uterus is always larger than those of " normal " pregnancies. Mine was because I knew I had at least one fibroid left after the surgery and they tend to grow with pregnancy due to the huge amount of estrogen produced during pregnancy. Also, your uterus was probably still to some extent larger than normal from the fibroid and takes a longer time to shrink after a myo than it will after pregnancy. > Everything will be fine. My gyna. told me that after a myo. the difficult thing is actually getting pregnant, once you are pregnant you more or less become like other pregnancies. If you haven't got any more fibroids then it is smooth sailing. > All the best > Beri.
Guest guest
Hi Dana I'm new to this group too! I wanted to know where in your uterus the fibroid is located, what I mean is, is it on the inside wall of the uterus or on the outside? How big is it? Mine is 6cm and is on the outside of the uterus but a little dome of it is protruding into the uterus perhaps blocking my tubes. I am due a lap on May 3rd to check it out. I have my pre-op appt tomorrow. I have heard women still get pregnant after a myo but it depends on the a few factors like scarring tissue, reconstruction of the womb, etc. I'm sure there are more knowledgable women than me that would give you some more advice too. Good luck. >From: firedancer0720@... >Reply-To: uterinefibroids >To: uterinefibroids >Subject: Re: Re: PREGNANCY AFTER MYOMECTOMY >Date: Wed, 24 Apr 2002 14:21:54 EDT > >Hello group, > >My name is Dana and I have recently joined this group. Guest guest
My fibroid is inside of my uterus it is a submucosal fibroid, which is the most destructive type to a pregnancy. My obgyn is pretty sure this has been the cause of my pregnancy losses, and so I am having it removed in a hope to up my chances of carrying a baby to term. I am not sure how big it is, he has not said in cm's but has told me it is small and it is about the size of the tip of your little finger. It is located near my left tube, so there is a chance that removal of it may cause that tube to be blocked off. He assures me that I can still get pregnant with one tube. I am praying for the best and will keep both of my tubes. Are you having difficulty getting pregnant? I was for seven months, but then I got pregnant and miscarried and then got pregnant again after one cycle. I have been told by my obgyn not to try to get pregnant for three months after the surgery to remove it. I don't want asherman's syndrome to have to deal with. I wish you luck with your lap on the 3rd. I hope it turns out well. Dana
